Easy thesis writing for international students
Easy thesis writing for international students
Description
Book Introduction
"Easy Thesis Writing for International Students" focuses on the following two points for professors who teach academic writing and students who aim to write theses.
First, rather than simply introducing academic language, it was designed to be a guide to 'research' by explaining what 'research' actually is and what the 'research' process is like.
The 12 chapters are organized taking into account the planning and writing order of the paper.
Readers will get a taste of the world of research through learning objectives such as "How can we find creative topics?" and "How can we apply various research methodologies, such as qualitative and quantitative research?"
Second, each chapter is structured as ‘Enter, Find Out, Learn, and Try’, and the academic terms and keywords presented in each chapter were presented as richly as possible by utilizing examples from actual Korean academic paper corpora.
Through this book, readers will encounter not only vocabulary typically found in Korean academic papers, but also specific patterns and discourse contexts, along with vivid examples of their use.

Into the book
It takes great courage to complete a thesis in a foreign language.
Thesis writing is difficult, and writing in a foreign language is also difficult.
But it is fortunate to know what the difficulties are in 'writing for international students'.
Because if you know the cause of the problem, there is a solution within it.

What should international students consider when starting a thesis in Korean? Writing is the act of expressing thoughts and facts in written form.
To write as he said, you need at least two things.
One is to sequentially develop your thoughts about what to write.
Another is to put those thoughts into writing.
Here is one more thing that is absolutely necessary for foreigners' writing.
It is a 'writing skill that effectively transfers thoughts that come to mind in one's native language into a foreign language.'

The authors of this book are well aware of the problems international students are trying to solve.
And I have a lot of 'good information' about writing that I would like to share with international students.

Publisher's Review
preface

Studying in a language other than your native language is extremely difficult.
This is because we must approach the new activity called ‘research’ with a new language.
When teaching international students in graduate school classes, the issue of 'content' and 'form' is something that must always be considered in harmony.
If we focus only on the formal language, we may end up writing soulless papers that lack the 'research' of collecting, analyzing, and arguing data.
Conversely, no matter how excellent the research topic and idea, there are cases where a paper does not receive a good score in the paper review process due to lack of knowledge of the Korean academic community's customary communication methods.
"Easy Thesis Writing for International Students" was planned to strike a balance between the path to "research" and academic study in "Korean."

This book was planned and written with the support of the BK21 Global Era Regional Culture and Language Education Research Group of the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Kyungpook National University.
In particular, securing the research competitiveness of international students in line with the educational goal of the business unit, “research aimed at professionalism and internationality,” was a major motivation for writing this book.
Over the past several decades, the number of international students seeking to learn Korean language, literature, and culture has steadily increased due to Korea's socioeconomic status and the influence of the Korean Wave.
In order to internationalize Korean studies and secure international competitiveness, we have entered an era where the research competitiveness of not only Korean scholars but also international students is very important.
I would like to express my gratitude to the BK Business Group for understanding the planning intention of this book and providing support.
I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to President Kim Jin-su and Director Jo Jeong-heum of Hankuk Culture Publishing Co., Ltd., who readily took on the task of publishing this book despite the difficult publishing environment, and to Editor Yoo Dong-geun, who took on the role of editor.
