Korean language skills to become a global citizen
Korean language skills to become a global citizen
Description
Book Introduction
International students taking Korean language liberal arts classes at universities often say they wish there were more diverse classes to choose from.
Professors have also felt the need to move beyond liberal arts classes focused on the Korean language and culture, and to offer new liberal arts courses to prepare for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and learn about the role of intellectuals in a globalized society.
This textbook was started with the hopes of this Korean language education field.

First, it was necessary to set goals for liberal arts education for international students.
Cultivating the ability to understand and express oneself fluently for academic inquiry and developing critical thinking and rational communication skills have become important goals.
Here, we added the goal of establishing desirable values for humanity and the world and becoming an intellectual with a sense of community.
To achieve this goal, I thought global citizenship education was necessary.
For international students, learning to be global citizens begins with understanding that they and everything on Earth are connected.
It is the duty of intellectuals to cultivate a sense of responsibility as human beings by adopting a critical attitude toward common problems of humanity, considering and implementing the best methods for sustainable development.

This textbook offers reading strategies for international students at the intermediate level and above, while also fostering their intellectual curiosity about their major.
Reading strategies can help you learn to become a global citizen, as well as improve your reading skills in your major field.
It also includes topic-specific reading and writing courses to help international students prepare for the important Korean language proficiency test.
We believe that through this textbook, international students will ponder global issues and learn Korean, becoming responsible, global citizens who develop day by day.
