Book Introduction
The most widely used integrated skills textbook in Korean language education aims to promote efficient teaching and learning by presenting the skills of speaking, listening, reading, and writing in an integrated manner, and further to achieve balanced and comprehensive language ability development.
This textbook presents the four language functions independently, allowing learners to focus on the corresponding language function and immerse themselves in the actual environment where the language is used, helping them to clearly understand and express the function. It also allows learners to select and focus on language functions according to their learning purposes and needs, enabling more effective Korean language learning.
From the instructor's perspective, it is expected that specialized teaching skills for each language function that has been neglected in integrated textbooks will be improved, and furthermore, by fostering language education experts for each function, it will become a new turning point for Korean language education both domestically and internationally.
Based on the 『International Standard Model for Korean Language Education』 published by the National Institute of the Korean Language, we attempted to incorporate standard content for Korean language education by arranging language elements, meanings, and functions.
In addition, we tried to avoid duplication by having a circular structure rather than simply listing functions and topics, and paid special attention to arranging photos and illustrations so that learners' motivation and interest in learning could be maintained.
I hope this book will be of practical help to both learners and instructors.
