A Study on Korean Language Education Based on the Native Language Characteristics of Chinese Learners
A Study on Korean Language Education Based on the Native Language Characteristics of Chinese Learners
Description
Book Introduction
Korean language education tailored to the native language characteristics of each country's learners is essential for efficient learning.
In particular, at a time when research is needed based on the characteristics of the mother tongue for Chinese learners, this book was written by dividing it into three major areas: grammar, teaching methods, and reading and speaking.
In Chapter 1, “A Study on Korean Spoken Grammar Education Using the Drama ‘Goblin’,” the educational value of spoken grammar required in real-life communication situations was presented for advanced Chinese learners. In addition, the dialogue from ‘Goblin,’ a recently popular Korean drama, was analyzed to find ways to teach spoken grammar, and a teaching plan was developed based on teaching procedures that can be applied to actual Korean language classes.

Next, in “Analysis of the Use of Interrogative Sentences by Chinese Learners of Korean,” existing research has mainly focused on interrogative endings and interrogative pronouns, which is difficult for foreign learners. Therefore, rather than teaching sentence components separately, it is more efficient to teach interrogative sentences as a unified entity. Therefore, the use of interrogative sentences by Chinese learners and native Korean speakers was compared and analyzed, and the use of interrogative sentences in Korean language textbooks used in universities in China was analyzed to suggest grammar education suitable for Chinese learners.

And in “A Study on the Use of Auxiliary Verbs by Chinese Learners of Korean,” the frequency of auxiliary verb use by Chinese learners was investigated through writing activities, and the errors in auxiliary verbs that appeared in written texts were analyzed. As a result, it was revealed that they were mainly syntactic errors and semantic misuses.

Publisher's Review
Chapter 2 contains three papers related to teaching methods. In “Comparative Study of Research Trends in Korean Language Teaching Methods in Korea and China,” the paper focuses on research trends related to teaching methods in China, where research is still insufficient, and examines how Korean language teaching method research was conducted in each period. This will not only help in finding the direction of future Korean language teaching method research, but also reveal the differences in trends and causes of teaching method research in Korea and China, and suggest effective teaching methods.

In “A Study on Teaching and Learning the Korean Discourse Marker ‘Just’ for Chinese Learners,” discourse markers are sometimes used differently from their dictionary meanings and are realized with various meanings depending on the situation, which makes it difficult for foreign learners to communicate smoothly. To solve this problem, the function of the discourse marker ‘Just’ and the corresponding Chinese expression were analyzed, and a teaching and learning model was proposed so that Chinese learners can easily understand and learn Korean discourse markers by comparing them to expressions in their native language.
And in “Teaching and Learning Research on Korean Passive Expressions for Chinese Learners,” Korean language students in China were studied.

By analyzing a survey on passive expressions and examining the types and causes of errors, an efficient teaching and learning method was suggested.
In Chapter 3, Reading and Speaking, “A Study on Schema-Activating Pre-Reading Activities for Chinese Learners” aims to activate learners’ existing knowledge and experiences and input new knowledge and experiences into them. By focusing on pre-reading activities to resolve what and how to activate them, we aimed to pursue more efficient learning effects.

And in “Speaking Education Plan for Chinese Learners,” we compared and analyzed the Korean speaking textbooks used in China and those used in Korea, and wrote about the strengths and weaknesses to contribute to the direction of improving speaking textbooks in the future.
