The enthusiasm for teaching Korean to foreigners, which began in the late 20th century, continues to spread even now in the 21st century.
This fever is spreading globally beyond neighboring regions of Asia to Europe and South America.

As the number of foreigners wishing to learn Korean has increased, the number of teachers (or professors) teaching Korean has also increased dramatically, and various teaching materials have been developed to teach them.
However, not everything is positive when it comes to Korean language education.
One cannot help but tilt one's head when thinking about whether qualitative improvement has been achieved in keeping with quantitative expansion.


Korean language textbooks have now gone beyond simply teaching Korean to foreigners and have reached a point where they must be balanced across levels.
This textbook will help foreigners who wish to learn Korean, especially those who wish to pursue academic studies in Korean beyond their daily lives, to take an easy first step.


Furthermore, I hope that this textbook will serve as a touchstone for research in this area by presenting the fundamental issues that Korean language textbooks should address.
