Book Introduction
In 1592, the Japanese army invaded Joseon.
The long war between Korea and Japan lasted for seven years.
This war is called the 'Imjin War'.
When the Imjin War began, Joseon seemed helpless in the war.
However, the victory of the naval forces led by Yi Sun-sin completely changed the situation of the war.
Yi Sun-sin (1545-1598) was a general who protected the seas of Joseon during the Imjin War.
Yi Sun-sin overcame the weaknesses of the Joseon navy by creating the turtle ship.
In battle, he achieved victory through tactics that utilized terrain and waterways.
Yi Sun-sin won every battle he commanded. He saved Joseon from crisis and sacrificed his life for his country until the very end.
Later, King Injo gave General Yi Sun-sin the posthumous title of 'Chungmugong'.
From then on, he was called 'Admiral Yi Sun-sin'.
