Book Introduction
Kim Man-deok (1739-1812) was born as a commoner in Jeju Island.
However, Kim Man-deok, who lost her parents at a young age, became a gisaeng due to poverty.
Kim Man-deok never forgot her status and worked hard to regain her status as a commoner.
After becoming a commoner, Kim Man-deok started a business.
Kim Man-deok, who valued principles and trust in business, became a prominent female merchant in Jeju Island.
When a famine struck Jeju Island, Kim Man-deok donated all of her wealth to save people's lives.
The king, upon learning of Kim Man-deok's good deeds, granted her wish.
After meeting the king and touring Geumgangsan Mountain, Kim Man-deok returned to Jeju Island and practiced sharing while doing business until she died.
