[Potatoes] show the misery created by poverty.
Boknyeo, the farmer's daughter, was a kind and polite girl.
But she becomes a woman who sells her body to make money.
Boknyeo eventually meets a miserable death.
It is more tragic because it is a death that no one mourns.
[The shipwreck shows the misfortune caused by misunderstanding.
'I' meet a man who calls for a boat on the Daedong River.
The novel tells the story of that man.
The man is jealous of the affection between his wife and younger sister.
And he misunderstands that his wife and younger sister love each other.
In the end, his wife dies and his brother leaves.
The man searches for his younger brother with a remorseful heart.
