Publisher's Review
This textbook is designed to focus on two language skills: speaking and writing.
You will learn how to express your opinions effectively through conversations, discussions, and presentations with your peers both inside and outside the classroom.
You can also practice writing skills that will help you communicate your thoughts effectively in college, from everyday to academic writing.
Rather than simply learning linguistic knowledge such as grammar rules and vocabulary, this textbook will help you develop the discourse composition skills required in Korean society.
It is designed to help learners at intermediate and higher levels improve their speaking and writing skills, especially in explaining and arguing.
Chapters 1 and 2 cover the exercises necessary for writing and speaking well, Chapters 3 and 4 cover explanatory writing and descriptive speaking, Chapters 5 and 6 cover argumentation and presentation, and the final chapter, Chapter 7, provides practice in organizing the format and content necessary for academic writing.
The purpose of arranging similar functions side by side is to reduce the burden on students in constructing their speaking and writing discourse by allowing them to apply the materials collected for writing to speaking as well.
This textbook is the first result of the participation of Korean language education professors from Honam University, Gwangju University, Gwangju Women's University, and Nambu University.
We will work with professors from more universities in the future to share good results.
I would like to express my special gratitude to Professor Song Chang-soo, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Director of the National Innovation Project Group at Honam University, for his assistance in publishing this book.
I would also like to express my gratitude to Professor Park Kyung-jong, Director of the Planning Office and Head of the University Innovation Division at Gwangju University, Professor Kim Jeong-ah, Director of the Liberal Arts Education Center, Professor Yoon Hyeon-seok, Director of the Innovation Division at Gwangju Women's University, and Professor Kang Hye-jin, Director of the Liberal Arts Basic Education Center.
I would also like to thank Mr. Park Bu-ha, who worked hard from the planning to the publication of the book, and Ms. Soda-in, who edited it beautifully.
