Academic presentations and discussions for international graduate students
Academic presentations and discussions for international graduate students
Description
Book Introduction
『Academic Presentations and Discussions for International Graduate Students』 is a guide to academic presentations and discussions for master's and doctoral students currently enrolled in domestic graduate schools.
Research conducted by researchers at the graduate level or higher is presented at academic conferences and published in academic journals, contributing to the advancement of academic fields.
International students who advance to graduate school must also go through the process of presenting and reviewing a thesis in order to graduate. They often present their research in class or present their own research papers at academic conferences.
However, there are not many opportunities to systematically learn how to effectively communicate one's research, and there are no suitable textbooks to refer to.
Accordingly, the BK21 FOUR Regional Language and Literature-Based Creative Convergence Future Talent Training Research Group at Chonnam National University published this textbook to help international graduate students understand the process of academic presentations and learn appropriate expressions.

Publisher's Review
In Lecture 1, we explained the concept, structure, and strategy of academic presentations so that you can understand what an academic presentation is.
In the second lecture, we presented how to prepare presentation materials, and in the third lecture, we explained how to create slides based on the prepared presentation.
From the 4th to the 8th quarter, we learned the structure and expression of the introduction, development, and conclusion of the presentation, and we were able to write a script and practice the presentation according to the content to be presented.
In Lectures 9 and 10, we have designed the course so that students can write discussion papers related to discussions following academic presentations and then practice asking and responding to questions about the presentation using appropriate expressions.
This textbook considers that academic presentations are not limited to one-sided speeches but rather communication with fellow researchers, and thus incorporates discussion and Q&A. It also covers all the fundamental presentation requirements required in the academic community, making it a valuable resource for both international and Korean graduate students.
