Publisher's Review
First, this book is divided into two volumes: ‘Vocabulary and Grammar’ and ‘Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.’
Vocabulary and grammar correspond to knowledge of the Korean language, and after learning this knowledge, the course is structured to teach language functions, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Therefore, it is structured so that you can learn vocabulary and grammar and use them to communicate.
Second, vocabulary and grammar are considered language knowledge, but they were developed with a focus on 'using Korean' rather than learning it as knowledge.
Therefore, we have structured the usage practice for vocabulary and grammar in stages so that you can practice from easy to difficult.
Third, vocabulary and grammar are divided into 14 lessons, and each lesson consists of about 10 vocabulary items and 4 to 5 grammar items, so that practice can be completed within 130 minutes.
Additionally, a comprehensive exercise is included at the end of each lesson to help you review the vocabulary and grammar you learned in that lesson.
Fourth, all subjects are organized by topic.
The title of each unit will soon become the topic.
Therefore, vocabulary and grammar are set to clearly show the topic, and the appropriate functions, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing, are designed to enable it.
In particular, vocabulary is placed at the beginning of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, so that learners can expand vocabulary appropriate to the topic through the vocabulary list.
Fifth, we have provided listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities twice per subject to enable diverse practice on the topic.
In particular, we have designed a variety of speaking activities to ensure that learners can get meaningful practice that suits their interests and concerns, including speaking and reading.
Sixth, the 'Listening, Speaking, Reading, Writing' section includes 'homework' at the end of each unit to enable integrated practice of functions, and then covers 'interesting language and culture stories' to enable learning about pronunciation and honorific culture that are unique to the Korean language.
Additionally, we have included a 'self-assessment' feature so that learners can check for themselves whether they have achieved the learning objectives for the lesson, including vocabulary and grammar.
Seventh, the order of use of the textbook vocabulary/grammar section and the functional section (listening, speaking, reading, writing) is as follows.
Vocabulary, Grammar 1, Grammar 2 → Vocabulary, Listening 1, Speaking 1, Reading 1, Writing 1 → Grammar 3, Grammar 4, Vocabulary/Grammar Practice → Listening 2, Speaking 2, Reading 2, Writing 2, Assignments, Interesting Language and Culture Stories, Self-Assessment
