Learning Korean through Novels 1
Description
Book Introduction
With the rapid increase in the number of test takers for the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK), Korean is now loved around the world as an "international language" along with Korean culture.
In order to globalize the Korean language, I believe that we need to more actively pursue policies and research that will help potential learners who have been introduced to Korean culture, such as Korean music and food, to become actual Korean language learners.
To this end, the Korea-France Cultural Arts Research Institute (www.cfcsk.org) has decided to develop Korean language textbooks and Korean language applications using Korean novels to provide culture-based language teaching to potential learners and to make them accessible from anywhere in the world.
Kim Yu-jeong's [Camellia], [Bom Bom], and [Sudden Shower], which are highly praised for being simpler and more refined than Anton Chekhov or Guy de Maupassant's writing style, yet sharper and more poignant, were chosen as the first novels to learn Korean from. Some of these texts will be produced on YouTube so that Korean language learners can easily utilize them.
Learning Korean through Novels includes explanations of authors, plots, and vocabulary in English, French, Chinese, Japanese, and Vietnamese, making it easier for foreigners learning Korean to access.
In addition, the method of making a hodulgi (willow flute) and onomatopoeia from Kim Yu-jeong's [Camellia] are included in five languages, so that Korean language learners can learn Korean language and culture more enjoyably.
The illustrations by artist Lee Gwang-taek and illustrator Kim Yu-jeong make the text more vivid.
