Until the day I am reborn as a new god
The hunt never ends
A thrilling YA fantasy that combines Greek mythology and The Hunger Games.
A breathtaking battle between the nine ancient gods and the human clans that killed them and became new gods.

Zeus, angry at the tyranny of the gods, punished them by banishing them from the world of the gods and forcing them to compete in a life-or-death contest called the 'Agon' for a week every seven years.
This allows the gods to freely display their power as immortal gods for seven years, use their 'divinity', and live comfortably, but during the week of 'Agon', they must fight and survive while being chased by hunters in a body identical to that of a human.

Lore (Melona Perseus), the sole survivor of the Perseus family, believes that if she gets the Aegis shield back, her parents will not leave Agon, so she sneaks into the Cadmus family's stronghold and steals the Aegis, but leaves Agon after witnessing the brutal murder of her parents and younger sister.
One day, a new Agon begins, and Athena, one of the 211 survivors of the Old Gods, comes to her and asks her to bind her fate with her in seclusion, and they agree to join forces to eliminate the New Ares, Rath.
Castor Achilles, who trained with her as a child, also appears as New Apollo and helps her get revenge.
However, when Lore learns the true identity of the person who killed his family, he falls into great confusion, and Athena, while trying to stop Rath, puts a sword in Lore's hand just before he dies and allows him to stab himself in the heart, inheriting her powers.
In the end, Lore, who killed Rath and became a god, makes a new resolution with Castor… .

Into the book
『Lore 1』

For the past two weeks, familiar faces have been appearing all over the city.
They were making final preparations for tonight.
The shock that Lore received when he discovered them was so great that it took his breath away, as if a blade had stabbed his lungs.
Every time they came into view, it became clearer that everything Lore had hoped for, everything he had desperately prayed for in his heart, had come to nothing.
please.
I've been praying and praying for this for the past few months.
Please, this time it will be London.
Please, let Tokyo be chosen.

I hoped anywhere, but not just New York.
--- p.24 From “Part 1: The City of the Gods”

Roar continued speaking, his voice strained and shuddering.
“All you know, all you care about is power.
You don't know how to want anything else.
So, even if I say I don't want to take away his power, do you believe me? I have no desire to get involved in this crazy game."
“So then… what is it that you want?” Athena asked.

Words of anguish poured out of Lore's mouth without his consent.
“It’s about being free.”
--- p.83 From “Part 1: The City of the Gods”

This world, their world, was similar to the holographic image that now surrounded her.
Temples, once sacred places of worship, have now become symbols of debauchery and deviance.
All the clans had centuries ago eliminated any religious element from their rites and ceremonies, and now their only faith was that of fanatical cruelty and materialism.
The only god they even pretended to acknowledge was Zeus, but the sacrifices they made to him were not born of deep faith, but were shallow gestures, forced by superstition.

For too long, Aristos Cadmus has been a monster lurking within the labyrinths of Lore's mind.
Lore remembered his scarred face, his dark, coarse hair, and his gray hair almost as if it were a tangled mess.
He looked younger now than he did in Lore's memories.
It was as if the immortal power had turned back his age by several decades.
However, some features remained the same as before.
Thick, low-set eyebrows.
Dark olive skin tone.
A face as angular as a cut diamond.

His golden eyes met Lore's through the swirling maelstrom of glass shards that surrounded his body.
He smiled broadly.
“Little miss, I finally found you!”

『Lore 2』

Suddenly, with a surge of strength, Lore flipped over and crushed Belen beneath him.
Belen tried to twist his body and shake off the Roar, but the Roar completely pressed down on his body and arms with both legs.
Saliva was spewing out of his mouth like a mad dog.
Lore raised his sword high, his gaze fixed on his rapidly heaving chest.
Towards his heart, which was throbbing beneath the armor, beneath the skin, beneath his ribs.
If he hadn't heard a whisper of logic brushing past the animalistic part of his brain at that moment, Lore would have just stabbed him in.
Just killing them is too trivial.
--- p.25 From “Part 3: Immortality”

“No, that’s just how men have portrayed Medusa in paintings and stories up until now.
They imagined her as an ugly sight.
Because I didn't even have the courage to look a woman in the eye.
Because I was afraid to face the fierce storm that was living and breathing inside the woman's heart, waiting for its time.
Medusa was not destroyed by my uncle's atrocities.
I was simply reborn as a being who could look at the world without any fear.
"Isn't that what your family has been doing for centuries? Haven't they, too, hidden their faces behind Medusa's mask and looked out at the world?"
Lore flinched as the goddess's words seeped into his consciousness.
--- p.91 From "Part 3: Immortality"

The goddess took a step closer to Lore.
“But I waited.
“Until your parents come to look into them, and until the moment when Agon is over and my powers are fully restored.” Athena stopped just in front of Lore and looked down at him.
“And every time your parents didn’t answer my question, I tore off a piece of their body.
“I asked where the other one was, where the child might be hiding.”
As I recalled my sisters, disfigured beyond recognition, the emotions that had been trapped inside me exploded.
Anger and sadness surged through my body, bursting out.
The world was off its axis and shaking wildly.
The lore attacked.
--- p.91 From "Part 4: The Black River"

“This is the only way,” Athena managed to say.
Now the goddess's body was trembling violently as she fought against the poison that had spread throughout her.
“I… lost… you will be reborn.
You still have time.
Fight until the end.
This is… the only… reasonable choice.
“This city… must be protected.”
The goddess placed the tip of the sword over her heart.
And he left the final choice to Lore.
You can never be free.

Lore, daughter of Perseus, from hunter to god
The protagonist Lore in this book represents a new era of women who reject the male-centered worldview of Greek mythology centered around Zeus and fight against fixed fate.
Breaking the unwritten rule that only male hunters can become gods, Rhea Perseus kills Poseidon and becomes the new god 'Tidebringer', being ignored and ostracized by the other families.
Under the leadership of House Cadmus, the remaining houses almost completely annihilate House Perseus to prevent a repeat of the events of the last days of Agon, and later, Lore's parents and two younger siblings also meet a brutal death at the hands of House Cadmus.
After leaving Agon and living in hiding, Lore joins forces with the goddesses Athena and Castor, who come to visit her, and joins Agon again, killing Rath, who has ambitions to rule the human world, and restores the honor of her family.

“The feathers that fall from the wings are not abandoned, they are set free.
And my name will become legendary.”

The battle between gods and humans, a new look at Greek mythology!
This book breaks stereotypes about Greek mythology with its intriguing premise of hunting the omnipotent gods for seven days every seven years to steal their power, and shows various characters coping with their given fate.
Based on the story of Aegis, the shield gifted by Zeus, the author summons several heroes from Greek mythology, including the descendants of Perseus, to the real world and portrays them in three dimensions. By presenting both humans who are stronger than the gods and gods who are weaker than humans, the author accurately reflects the situations we humans face in our lives.

“There is no forgiveness in Agon, kill or be killed.
“There is only survival and a task that must be completed.”

A glimpse into the ugly face of humanity set in modern New York.
The humans who became new gods in Agon, created by Zeus to punish the nine arrogant gods, each committed murder and atrocities against their rivals, breaking their sacred oaths and raising the glory of their families.
The new gods manifested in human form, lived luxurious lives, and manipulated the world's providence to increase their family's wealth. The Archons representing the families assisted the new gods, trained hunters, and participated in the Agon every seven years to protect their gods.
Lore, who infiltrated the Achilles family to meet Castor, is overcome with disappointment and anger when he sees humans repeating the same behavior as the ancient gods, who were full of selfishness and vanity.

The temple has now become a symbol of a space where debauchery and deviance take place.

Now their only faith was in fanatical cruelty and materialism.

From immortal god to human again
After learning the secret of his family's death, Lore decides not to cooperate with Athena any longer and attempts suicide, but is healed by Castro with the help of Hermes and awakens.
And he finds the hidden Aegis shield and fights with Rath and Athena, but in the end, after Athena kills Rath, she puts a sword in Lore's hand and tells him to kill her.
Lore, who succeeded Athena as the new god, hesitates for a moment and then gives up his immortal powers with Castro, choosing to return to human life.

I don't want to lose even a single moment.
