Book Introduction
Goryeo Dogyeong is a report written by Seo Geung, an envoy from the Song Dynasty, after he visited Goryeo in 1123 on an envoy's mission to report the truth about Goryeo to the emperor.
Seo Geung compiled the landscapes of Goryeo that he saw through his eyes into writing and drawings.
The Goryeo Dogyeong covers everything about Goryeo, including its history before and after the founding of the Goryeo dynasty, the royal lineage, the city of Gaeseong, the capital of Goryeo, the royal palaces and courts within the royal palace, official uniforms and ceremonies, the real power holders of Goryeo, military systems such as military and weapons, religious ideologies such as Taoism and Buddhism, the class and land systems, the customs and daily necessities of the Goryeo people, and ships and navigation techniques.
