These charming teenagers comfort and open each other's hearts.
'Confession of Thorns' is a confession of the loneliness and deficiency in our hearts, which will fester if not taken out.

In 『Thorn Confession』, the characters from the previous work 『Wandeuk』 are alive.
In addition to the attractive main characters, the author presents the readers with the interesting profession of 'emotional designer', the character of Hae-cheol, Hae-il's older brother who controls both emotions and reason, and the teacher 'Yongchang-neunim' who can stand up to the strongest and most powerful 'Ddong-ju' in 'Wandeuk-i'.
Hae-cheol, who calls himself an emotional designer and has a strange phrase on his homepage that says, “Those who do not design their emotions will destroy themselves,” says that the world is like a market where “fish lying on ice and tteokbokki on fire” coexist, and that balance is only achieved when emotion and reason are appropriately connected.
Hae-il's homeroom teacher, Yongchang-neun, who bears the scar from being beaten by a student who mobilized gangsters on graduation day, is another character who, along with Hae-cheol, talks about the balance between emotion and reason in the story.
The two supporting actors provide a cool and gentle coolness that presses down the cracks in the youth that can easily become heated, and offer insight into life.

The warm caress of Kim Ryeo-ryeong's literature, hatching the dreams of chicks from tiny eggs.

Novelist Kim Ryeo-ryeong, who has been widely loved by both teenagers and adults for her works 『Wandeukie』 and 『Elegant Lies』, has published a new novel 『Thorn Confession』 after two years.
Kim Ryeo-ryeong, who captivated countless readers with her witty banter, outstanding characters, and refreshing story in the novel "Wandeukie," which needs no further description, captures a truly warm perspective on life in her new work, "Thorn Confession."
The author, who has won awards such as the Changbi Youth Literature Award, the Ma Hae-song Literature Award, and the Munhakdongne Children's Literature Award, has demonstrated the potential of Korean literature to be a "crossover" by making readers of all ages laugh and cry, and his new work once again demonstrates his potential.

This new work centers around Hae-il, the 'genius thief Shaekki', Jin-oh, 'Those guys are crazy, crazy! Even swearing has style', Ji-ran, the '18-year-old girl representative of Daechan', and Da-young, the 'essence of unrequited love', and contains a heart-warming story that pulls out the thorny confessions stuck in their hearts one by one.

■ To the warmest, most delicious and filling home in the world
You are invited.

The novel begins with the provocative sentence, “I am a thief,” from the protagonist, a boy who has been stealing since he was seven years old. It seems to enjoy the reader’s curiosity about how the story will end, and it pushes the story forward with a dense and curious gaze throughout.
The story is filled with a simple yet plentiful warmth, like an unexpectedly warm meal served at a friend's house after passing through a dark alley.
One day, Hae-il, who was trying to hatch a fertilized egg, says that he saw a chick in the egg.
It is not surprising that the protagonists, who seem to be at odds with each other, begin to reveal their feelings little by little.
It is the house of a friend who is not very special, where we eat together and chat together.
My friend's house, which gives me memories of a delicious and filling evening, is a small space of comfort in our hearts.
This comfort comes from the warm gaze melted into the author's own condensed experience.

And you, I love you.

The muscles of life are built up through many memories and experiences.
It is also the strength to face life with a mature confidence rather than shamelessness.
After living, I think that love builds better muscles than hate.
I'm still immature, so I still hate people I hate, but I try not to make the mistake of sending good people away in pain.
_ From the author's words

Just as a chick proves its life by breaking through the eggshell, Kim Ryeo-ryeong's literature soothes the aching and wounded hearts of readers with the warmth of life at 38 degrees Celsius that hatches eggs.

■ “When you believe, listen, and accept”
That's how confession hatches in our hearts.

The main character, Hae-il, is a high school sophomore who steals other people's things without even realizing it due to his innate dexterity.
Hae-il, who is not very wealthy but not very bad either, is just a guy who is 'in the middle'.
For Hae-il, who had to look after the house alone when his parents went out to work as a child, the loneliness of an empty house seems to have become as ingrained in him as theft.
Today, Hae-il steals a new-looking electronic notebook from the classroom locker.
His sensitive hands are the very essence of the eighteen-year-old boy's deprivation and loneliness.
The monologue, 'I am a thief,' is still embedded in my heart like a chick that has not yet hatched.
This novel is a journey from the 'monologue' in the diary to 'confession'.
Confession is not established alone.
For a confession to be valid, there must be someone who believes, listens, and accepts it. Only then will the confession be established naturally, not as a confession or a surrender, but as someone who will accept it.
The author says that when someone picks out such a confession and hands it over, instead of rejecting it, they should look at the shame and purity contained in the confession that humans must ultimately maintain.
If you can't forgive, then at least 'let it slide'.

Because there is a thorn that must be pulled out today.
Things I couldn't confess and kept hidden became sharp thorns stuck in my heart.
Let's pick.
Before it's too late and the festering begins.
It hurts and scares me to reveal it now, but I couldn't live my whole life with that thorny confession stabbing my heart.
Hae-il was prepared to silently accept and follow whatever reaction his friends might have to the thorns he had pulled out.

■ “Fish lying on ice, tteokbokki over a fire”
That peaceful combination of emotion and reason

The creation of unique characters has already been excellently demonstrated in Kim Ryeo-ryeong's previous works.
In this novel, the author presents readers with attractive main characters, an interesting job as an 'emotional designer', a character named Hae-cheol, Hae-il's older brother who controls both emotions and reason, and a teacher named Yongchang-neunim who can stand up to the most powerful 'Ddong-ju' in 'Wandeukie'.
Yongchang-neun, Hae-il's homeroom teacher who bears the scar from being beaten by a student who mobilized gangsters on graduation day, is another character who, along with Hae-cheol, talks about the balance between emotion and reason in the story.
The two supporting actors provide a cool and gentle coolness that presses down the cracks in the youth that can easily become heated, and offer insight into life.
