Into the book
Sometimes, words that might be the reason were mixed in the words of adults passing by.
“Yeonhwa lives with her grandfather?”
“It’s not a sin to not have parents, but…….”
“Still, there is no shadow on the child’s face.”
The adults blurt out their words without hesitation, within earshot, as if they don't think Yeonhwa will understand what they mean.
Yeonhwa, who is becoming an adult earlier than her peers, wonders what those words mean.
I know it well.
And fifth grade is not that young.

--- p.10

A woman wearing a deep red coat walked slowly and steadily.
His black hair, scented with the damp earth and wildflowers, swayed.
The golden belt tied around his waist gleamed like the sharp claws of a beast.

A sharp, fox-like chin and icy eyes quickly scanned Min-hye.
It was sharp and fierce, like the gaze of a wild beast.
Minhye just waited for the woman to pass by.
Strangely enough, the alluring scent of roses spread wherever the woman passed.
The scent shook Min-hye's heart like a sweet temptation.
At that moment, something shiny fell from the tip of the woman's right hand.
Bam.
It was the golden card that fell to the floor with a cold, hard sound.

--- p.51

Myungwoo's words, which looked down on the children living in Nokdu Apartments, gritted Jea's teeth.
Just by giving her friends high-end mechanical pencils as gifts, Yeonseo can be seen as being generous.
But if you gave them to all your classmates, everyone would be able to receive them with peace of mind, but giving them only to the children living in Nokdu Apartments made someone feel uncomfortable.

--- p.86

Yeonseo fainted right there.
All the way to the infirmary, Yeonseo kept closing and opening her eyes.
Because even in his own eyes, he looked like a ghost.
Yeonseo was afraid to open her eyes.
I didn't want to see myself with long hair like a ghost.
Jea was secretly enjoying this situation until Yeonseo fainted.
It was so refreshing to see Yeonseo's pride, which had been ignoring Nokdu Apartments, crumble.
But my heart wavered when I saw Yeonseo being carried to the infirmary, unconscious.
'Surely nothing will happen to Yeonseo, right?'
Jea's mind began to get complicated.
It's true that Jea didn't make Yeonseo's hair grow long, but she definitely gave her candy to make it grow long.
If you think about it, Yeonseo has never done anything particularly bad or harmful to Jea.
Rather, Yeonseo was worried about Jea when she rolled around on the classroom floor because of the itchiness a little while ago.
Suddenly, Jea's mind asked her a question.
'Do I want Yeonseo to become accustomed to lying like I am?'
Jea couldn't give a clear answer to the question that was coming from her heart.
However, as I thought about this, I felt sorry for Yeonseo and it started to creep into my heart.

Publisher's Review
A new Korean fantasy tale by Kim Yong-se and Kim Byeong-seop.
A mysterious convenience store run by K-goblins has arrived.

Authors who have solidified a niche in children's literature with their warm imagination and delicate stories have unleashed their imaginations in the most intimate space for today's children: convenience stores.
When snowflakes float in the air, cars, people, and streets hold their breath, the mysterious 25-Hour Goblin Convenience Store opens its doors during the goblin hour.
"25-Hour Goblin Convenience Store" is a modern adaptation of the characters Bihyeong (Bihyeongrang) and Gildal from the tale of "Bihyeongrang, the Painter of the Three Kingdoms" in "Samguk Yusa."
Through the mysterious being called the goblin, children's imagination and emotions are stimulated, while a unique worldview unfolds.
Beyond simple fantasy, it is worthy of attention as an attempt at Korean children's literature that harmonizes tradition and modernity, imagination and healing.

Gildal goes to deliver the golden card!
One thing, one choice
“If you’ve decided, close your eyes and call my name.”

Convenience store manager Bi-hyung and his secretary Gil-dal are waiting for the children with the most fervent wishes today as well.
One day, Gildal slips a golden card in front of a troubled child.
It may seem like a coincidence, but it is actually an invitation from a goblin that is only given to children who really need it.
The child who found the card steps into the world of '25 o'clock', disconnected from reality, and opens the door to the goblin convenience store.
The convenience store, with its old-fashioned appearance, is filled with familiar yet strange items.
Triangular kimbap that can turn back time, candy that makes you suffer if you don't tell the truth, mineral water that helps you sing high notes...
Each child chooses the one item that best suits them, and that choice soon leads to a special event that turns their everyday life upside down.
Moments that make you cry, laugh, be surprised, and feel your heart ache.
'25-Hour Goblin Convenience Store' doesn't create miracles, but it helps children face what they truly want and take a step forward on their own.

Change that starts with me, not a miracle
A record of tumultuous growth

It delicately and sensuously captures the inner conflicts and emotions that any elementary school student would have experienced at least once.
As the story progresses, young readers will reflect on their own true feelings, sometimes finding comfort, and sometimes a little courage.
And beside him are the chic yet strangely warm Bi-hyung and the quirky and cute secretary Gil-dal. "25-Hour Goblin Convenience Store" isn't a story about magical objects solving problems.
The center of the story is always the child's 'choice'.
It is not a miracle that someone magically solves, but the courage and responsibility that children have in facing their own problems and making choices that makes the story special.
A child who wanted to hide his mother's existence from his friend who he hated confesses his true feelings, and sacrifices himself for her.
The moment when unspoken emotions are revealed in unexpected ways, an amazing transformation begins.

“The first thing that came to mind was the exclamation in the classroom!”
★A truly fun book recommended by elementary school dictionary readers!★
★Written by a current teacher, and children can relate to it!★

Before publication, the book received enthusiastic responses from 101 elementary school students who read it in advance.
Written by a current elementary school teacher who knows students better than anyone else, it vividly captures the tone, emotions, and concerns of today's children.
A story that has been verified by pre-readers for its fun, emotion, and even moral lessons, a 100% Korean-style fantasy fairy tale that resonates perfectly with today's elementary school students has been born.

I want to share this book with friends who are going through difficult times these days.
A warm-hearted story helped me get one step closer to the cold world.
_6th grade Jeong Ye-won

After reading it all the way through, I couldn't help but love this book.
_5th grade Kwak Hee-won

Sometimes you may make mistakes and hate others.
Every time I read this book, I gained the confidence that if I honestly do my best, good results will come.
_4th grade Lee Chae-eun

How wonderful it would be if I could receive a golden card, too. While it's impossible in reality, experiencing the magical world through books was a delightful and enchanting experience.

Creative Notes (Author's Note)

Where do you go when you're hungry after school? Perhaps you stop by a convenience store with friends to grab a tasty snack or chat over ice cream in the cool air conditioning? In the past, the tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) stand in front of the school was a kid's hangout, but these days, convenience stores seem to be taking over that role.
Convenience stores, where you can find everything from triangle kimbap to cup ramen to sweet ice cream, are places we are very familiar with and thankful for.

I suddenly had this imagination.
What if there was a special time that didn't exist in the human world?
If 24 hours pass and a special hour, "25th hour," opens before the next day, and you open the door to a magical convenience store at that hour, and if that convenience store, open at that special hour, is run by a goblin, what amazing things will happen? What kind of surprises will happen to you if you buy items or food from the goblin's convenience store? Isn't it exciting just to think about it? This book began with this very imagination.

There is something I really want to point out at this point.
When you think of a goblin, do you think of a scary, horned creature? Most people probably do.
But that is not the appearance of our country's traditional goblin.
Our traditional goblins that appear in history books do not have horns and have a human-like appearance.
Of course, this special Korean goblin appears in this book, 『25-Hour Goblin Convenience Store』.

It's the goblin 'Bihyung'.
'Bihyeong' is the first goblin in Korea recorded in 'Samguk Yusa'.
This is a special child who was born after King Jinji, the son of King Jinheung of Silla, died at a young age and wandered as a ghost for a long time before forming a relationship with Dohwarang.
Another friend who appears in this book, Gildal, is also a person who actually appears in our history.
In this way, '25 Hour Goblin Convenience Store' presents a wonderful world of goblins, with real goblins from our history, not Japanese horned monsters, as the main characters.
We invite you to the thrilling and exciting 25-hour Goblin Convenience Store, hosted by K-Goblins.
Now, shall we open the door at 25 o'clock and enter the goblin convenience store?
