Into the book
On Bakery Street, where Jackie Maron's office is located, angry citizens were marching, holding up signs they had made themselves.
The sign read, 'Pigs! You rascal pigs!'
There was also a slogan written on it: "Real estate tycoon pigs! Resolutely oppose! Let's expose Pigstone's false promises!"
The citizens who participated in the march were shouting loudly and without stopping.
“Give me the house, give me the house!”
It was really strange to be asked to put my house up for sale.
'Pigstone Sarah… … .
'Are you a construction company?'
Jackie Maron seemed to have heard of a company called Pigstone.
But why are people so angry?
_ Main text, pages 18-19
The other two pigs shouted in unison.
“And there are ghosts wandering around!”
The first pig spoke again.
“The wall I had built all day came down overnight.
Excavators, saws, cement, trowels, and pigstone bricks are disappearing every day.
“Yesterday, even a bulldozer was stolen, and no one saw the culprit.”
One of the pigs got so excited that he jumped up on a chair and jumped up and down like he was on a trampoline.
“Calculate how much that costs in money.
A huge fortune, our fortune, has been lost.
“This is really crazy!”
_ Main text, pages 24-25

Publisher's Review
The second detective novel from 'The Book Eating Fox' has been released!
Another first publication in Korea!
'Book Eating Fox' has published its second detective novel, 'Jackie Marron and the Black Ghost', following the popular detective novel 'Jackie Marron and the Villain Golden Hand'.
This novel was also co-written with the popular author who gave birth to him, Franziska Biermann, and thanks to the enriched episodes and unique imagination, you won't be able to take your eyes off the story for a moment.
The author of this book, 'The Book-Eating Fox', is the main character of the book 'The Book-Eating Fox', which contains the story of her love for books.
It has been a bestseller in the children's category for 17 years since its publication in 2001, demonstrating its immense love among Korean readers.
Thanks to this, 'The Book-Eating Fox' also published this novel for the first time in Korea.
The Jackie Marron series by 'Book Eating Fox', which even had its text designed in Korea, will continue to be published.
Franziska Biermann incorporates ideas from children she met during her visit to Korea into this novel.
Franziska Biermann, co-author of the Jackie Marron series, visited Korea in the summer of 2017.
At the time, I was traveling around Korea for about a month and a half and met many readers. At a lecture held in Busan, I asked readers what kind of stories they would like to see in my second novel.
A child suggested a 'time machine' and Franziska Biermann immediately said she would definitely include it in the next story.
And this idea is reflected in this novel and serves as an important key for Jackie Marron to solve the case.
Familiar characters seem new thanks to the ingenious imagination.
The six characters in this story are familiar, yet somehow they feel new.
It's because of the three pig brothers.
Why not the Three Little Pigs? We've read the story of the Three Little Pigs and never once wondered about their gender.
Is it because they are animals?
Perhaps it's because the title is "The Three Little Pigs"? But Franziska Biermann had the amusing idea that they might be brother and sister, and this imagination led to an amusing episode in "Jackie Marron and the Black Ghost."
In the original, a pig and a wolf, who were bitter enemies, got married.
A marriage between a wolf and a pig is a situation that would be unimaginable in the original work.
And the extremely ferocious wolf appears in this book as an ugly wolf with tattered fur all over its body.
Instead of the sharpness that is seen in ordinary wolves, the poor wolf, who has lost his strength, is pessimistic about his situation.
And in the original, the pigs who were always beaten by the wolf are now the complete opposite, making for a familiar yet new situation, which is a unique and fun experience.
Changing things up like this creates unexpected situations and enriches the story.
In the original, the wolf that had been tormenting the pigs actually sneaked down the chimney and fell into a boiling cauldron, leaving his entire body covered in hair and dreaming of revenge.
The wolf, who had been waiting for an opportunity, hears that the pigs are building new townhouses and interferes with the construction.
However, he is caught by Jackie Maron and ends up making an ingenious but incongruous vow not to eat pigs.
And Jackie Marron flies back in Ellis' time machine to save the wolf from falling into the cauldron and returns.
This was because of Jackie Maron's belief that all problems must be solved from the root.
This idea appears with a whimsical imagination in all of Franziska Biermann's works.
In her debut work, “The Book-Eating Fox,” the fox loved books so much that she ate them all, and in her sequel, “The Book-Eating Fox and the Story Thief,” the fox had stories stolen.
The cat, which seems to be the epitome of laziness, even becomes diligent in "The Lazy Cat's Resolution."
Then, 'Book Eating Fox' showed his best originality by debuting as a full-time writer through the 'Jackie Maron' series.
In this way, the characters written by Franziska Biermann are special.
And it's special, yet ordinary.
This is because they are characters who have the will to become a better version of themselves, which is present in the hearts of ordinary people, such as the will to become a lazy but honest person, the heart that loves books to the point of devouring them, and the heart that reflects on coveting other people's things to make up for their own shortcomings.
Seeing these people overcome their struggles gives us confidence that with effort, we can create wonderful lives.
