Isomalto's Dream House
Description
Book Introduction
We invite you to Isomalto's dream home!
20 imaginative houses
A journey to meet unique characters and props!
Game background concept artist Isomalto's first artbook, "Isomalto's Dream House," is a book for aspiring background concept artists.
I combined 'house' and 'characters living in that house' with various keywords to create a worldview and a concept in my own way, and I captured the process of making it into a single work.
In this process, we revealed in detail the entire process from A to Z, from the rough sketches of the interior and exterior of the house to the high-density coloring process, and we even explained how to express detailed points that further enhance the level of perfection, and we worked hard to ensure a natural connection between the exterior and interior, as well as the character settings.
This is the definitive and ultimate collection of game concept settings, as it includes a Q&A interview with the artist that aspiring game artists would be curious about, as well as a making-of process that will provide great stimulation to those looking for inspiration.
I am confident that with this book, "Isomalto's Dream House," you will be able to joyfully take on new challenges, experiment fiercely, and ultimately become a background concept artist who can paint in your own unique language.

Into the book
Anyone who draws has probably thought at least once, 'How can I express my own individuality?'
Sometimes it's hard to know where to get ideas and how to develop them into concrete concepts.
I started "Isomalto's Dream House" in the hopes that it would be a small guide for those who are struggling with these concerns.
This book is a hint book that shows how small clues in everyday life can become inspiration and how they come together to form a single concept.
I've found great joy in discovering the seeds of ideas in fleeting images or trivial moments, weaving and varying them to create concepts and stories.
We experimented with various designs, such as keeping the internal structure simple but designing the roof in a complex shape or boldly combining materials that would not seem to go together.
This book contains my own attempts, so I hope you will refer to it and create your own designs.
Additionally, we developed the design by weaving together several keywords centered around the word 'house' and designed the exterior, interior, and even the characters living within it to be consistent within a single concept.
I hope that my efforts will serve as a small inspiration to those who wish to naturally convey a story through design.

20 dream homes designed with a solid worldview and diverse concepts!
This book, "Isomalto's Dream House," features 20 dream houses designed with a solid worldview and diverse concepts, including "A House with a Companion Duck," "A Slightly Unusual Hair Salon," "A Consolatory Candy Shop for the Afterlife," "A UAP Researcher's House," and "A Lantern Shop Selling Fantasy."
Each house contains an interesting story about what inspired it, what materials were used in its design, and what story lies behind it.
In this way, author Isomalt explains in detail, through 12 steps, how a small idea inspired by everyday life is completed as a complete work of art.
If you're an aspiring background concept artist, this course will teach you how to transform even the most trivial idea into a concrete concept through persistent thought, ultimately completing it into a finished work.
If you follow and study this entire process until it becomes your own, you will soon be able to become an artist with the skills you desire.
Unique characters and props that show their personalities and tastes!
When anyone discovers a house that looks stunning, they naturally wonder, "Who would live in a place like that? What kind of interior design would they have? What kind of items would they use?"
This is also true in games.
What makes people think, "I want to play this game," comes from the power of the cool characters, backgrounds, and detailed, high-quality props.
This book, "Isomalto's Dream House," details how 20 dream houses, the characters who live in them, and the props that show the characters' personalities and tastes can naturally connect with the concept of the house.
Through this, you can develop the ability to expand the game's worldview by going beyond background design and designing living, breathing characters and props within it.
Based on this, I am confident that I can become a game background concept artist who is both a specialist and a generalist with unique qualities and strengths.
The secret to setting up detail points that enhance the interior and exterior coloring process and completeness of your home!
If you're an artist, you know how difficult it is to create a piece that makes you feel like, "I finally finished it!"
Clearly, something is missing, but it's hard to pinpoint exactly what it is. That's when you need the perspective of an expert! In this book, "Isomalto's Dream Home," I reveal Isomalto's unique know-how on identifying those gaps and how to fill them.
Artist Isomaltto also emphasizes that the secret to creating paintings that continue to capture people's attention lies in the small but special details.
So, I'll also share some tips on how to focus on certain parts during the process to create a drawing that will immerse people in it.
Through this, you will not only be able to fill in the 2% that was lacking in your work, but you will also be able to lay the foundation for upgrading your skills to the next level.
An author's O&A + Making Notes that will be a great stimulus for aspiring game artists!
Background concept artist Isomalto has prepared a Q&A session for aspiring game artists, detailing his insights gained through his work. He also provides detailed explanations of his work and idea sketching process, complete with examples, to the point where you'll wonder, "Why would he go this far?"
As a senior in the industry, I gave a very detailed answer to questions about what a 'background concept artist' does, what skills and capabilities are required, and what kind of consistent efforts should be made on a daily basis to achieve this.
Also, the making notes reveal in detail how to develop 'observational skills' that are helpful for work, and how to organize even the smallest idea that suddenly comes to mind and turn it into work rather than just letting it go. This will be a great inspiration for those who are still wondering, "Why don't ideas just fall from the sky?"
