The principles of those who eventually achieve success
Description
Book Introduction
“A year from now, I will regret not starting today.”
Bestseller in over 100 countries, loved by 30 million readers, Barbara and Alan Pease
The one and only goal-achieving bible that turns imagination into reality!
Everything in life depends on what thoughts I have.
The emphasis on the 'power of thought' is an argument that has already been presented in many books.
But the claims and thoughts of some successful people are theirs, not ours.
In our bleak reality, we might scoff at the unconditional belief that "if you wish for something, the universe will come to your aid" behind the courage that comes from the saying, "If you think about it, it will happen."
If life truly could be as I imagined and desired, what would this current reality be like? Are countless failures caused by harboring failure in their hearts? These questions, constantly resurfacing alongside arguments emphasizing the power of thought, end in cynicism.
But the authors of this book, Alan and Barbara Pease, have read our minds! So, they begin by describing the reticular activating system as "our brain's amazing wish-fulfillment system."
When Napoleon Hill, the father of success philosophy, said, “Whatever the mind holds and believes, the body makes it a reality,” there was no medical technology to prove his belief.
But now modern medicine allows us to scientifically verify the truth of what Hill said using brain scans.
Mental processes such as achievement, goal setting, self-fulfilling prophecies, the power of prayer, and the law of attraction have entered the realm of science.
Our brain is deeply involved not only in the formation of our self and personality, but also in our successes and failures in life.
Therefore, regardless of my current state, if I want to successfully shape my future according to my will and through my own power, it would be useful to understand how our brain works from a 'scientific' perspective.
Who you are, how you reach your goals,
You can clearly learn how to achieve those amazing results.”

Into the book
Everyone has an ambition in life.
The ambition to do something great.
Are you like that too? How long do you plan to keep that secret? Many people end their lives without ever knowing what they truly want in life.
For many people, the commute to work is hell.
Many people also reach old age penniless.
Many people die from diseases such as cancer and heart disease.
It is rare for people to die of natural causes in old age.
Chapter 2 will address the dilemma people first encounter.
This is how you decide what you want.
What do I want from life? At first glance, it seems like an easy question.
What good is it if it's easy? People don't go through the process of figuring out the answer.
--- p.24
The beginning is simple.
Write down on a piece of paper all the things you want to do or achieve.
Anything is good, even small things are good.
There's no need to think that other people will laugh when they see it.
If it's a childhood dream that still lingers in your heart, include that dream on the list too.
If you have an idea that catches your eye, write it down too.
Let's secure at least 10 to 20 items.
Write down everything that catches your eye.
Again, anything is fine.
Just because you put something on a list doesn't mean you have to put all your effort into it or commit to it.
I'm just writing down thoughts that are currently in my interest or that have interested me at some point in the past.
Once you've made your list, only share it with people you know or completely trust.
I don't discuss lists with anyone who tries to influence me.
Let's avoid people who will interfere by saying things like, "This is ridiculous" or "That is impossible."
Let's block out the taunts and the slaps.
This list is only about myself.
Don't show your dream list to dream thieves.
Don't judge yourself by the opinions of others.
--- p.29
There are some things to keep in mind when planning your life's actions.
The action plan is not just about the spatial distance between my current location and the destination location.
In either case, the concept of time intervenes and makes everything relative.
Think about the time just before you leave for vacation.
Haven't you ever been amazed at your own work speed and throughput? You still have work to finish before vacation, but the thought of a deadline looming like a thunderbolt summons a superpower. The power of deadlines is that powerful.
Deadlines spur people on.
It whips all ongoing projects in the world to ensure their successful completion.
--- p.72
Do you want to know the real culprit behind your current situation and circumstances? Do you want to discover the real reason why your finances, career, health, and relationships are the way they are? It's simple.
Stand in front of a mirror.
There is a culprit there.
The culprit is me.
It is all my fault that I am in this situation.
If things are going well, it's thanks to me, and if things are going badly, it's my fault.
Unless I have a disability like schizophrenia or autism, unless I have irreversible brain damage, unless I live in an extremely repressive totalitarian society, I am responsible for my current state.
I am not partially responsible, I am fully responsible.
My mindset and the choices I've made in the past have created my current situation.
My current situation is the result of my thoughts and actions up to now.
When my life is a brilliant success, the credit is mine, and when it isn't, the blame is mine.
--- pp.99-100
There are countless examples of the effectiveness of making bold promises and imagining success, regardless of era or field.
It happens countless times around us.
This is not just a boast.
You must gather your will to achieve the results you want.
Even imagining success should not be vague.
I need to envision in detail what it would be like for me to be successful.
Let's start practicing from today.
Whenever a negative word comes out of your mouth, try to change it into a positive one.
Goals must first be realized in the mind before they can be realized materially.
It is easy to overcome limits imposed by others, but it is not easy to overcome limits imposed by oneself.
Through the power of visualization and affirmations, I can break down the barriers to success that have held me back and become free.
Once liberated from there, creativity and potential that had been rotting away as untapped resources until now will be unleashed.
And things that were only in imagination become reality.
--- p.157
If you seek a progressive and productive life, it's best to avoid cynics, those who throw cold water on other people's dreams, those with a victim mentality, and those who believe that being average is the only way to do well.
It's best to avoid it until you have the confidence and guts to filter out and ignore the nonsense.
It takes a conscious, intentional decision to surround yourself with positive, uplifting people who encourage you to get where you want to be and applaud you when you get there.
--- p.174
Success in life, getting what you want, becoming who you want to be.
It's a matter of planning and execution rather than talent.
Some people are born with talent but fail to shine, while others shine like stars even under adverse circumstances.
The reason people fail to live fulfilling lives is because they focus on the 'how' rather than the 'what.'
The most crucial step on the road to success is deciding 'what'.
I need to know what kind of person I am and what I want.
When you set a goal, methods appear from all sides.
Let's create an action plan that reflects those methods and set realistic deadlines.

Publisher's Review
Transform your brain into a success system!
The reticular activating system is a region of the mammalian brain that is a neural network that selects sensory information coming up the spinal cord and sends it to the cerebral cortex.
In a word, this neural network is the gatekeeper of the brain.
Almost all information input into the sensory organs passes through the reticular activating system and enters the brain.
The reticular activating system decides which information to send to the brain and which to ignore.
However, the reticular activating system focuses on what I currently believe or ponder because it prioritizes or selects information that reinforces existing beliefs.
It helps me filter out information that doesn't fit me and comes to what I choose to believe.
This is precisely why some people see the same situation as an opportunity and others as a challenge.
Even for the same object or event, the meaning given to it varies from person to person, and that meaning strongly influences the impression one has of the object or event.
In other words, our brain can work for or against us depending on our belief system.
People who believe that hard work is the only way to make money will only see information that confirms and reinforces that belief, and will ultimately live a life that proves that belief to be true.
Because the delusional activation system cleans up opportunities to make money without having to work hard.
The opposite is also true.
Concrete ways to success!
The reticular activation system selects only those relevant to the setting from the vast amount of data pouring in from the surroundings and pushes them into my attention, while the rest of the irrelevant information is cut out without a second thought.
Therefore, it is better to input what you want as a specific and clear picture rather than an abstract concept.
In particular, if you regularly speak your goals out loud in positive language, your reticular activating system will kick into high gear and won't stop until you get what you want.
Throughout the book, the author explains step-by-step how to achieve success by utilizing the reticular activating system.
First of all, it is important to set your goals clearly and visualize them.
Next, you must have the strength to push forward toward your goals no matter what anyone says.
Because I'm the ultimate decision maker in my life! But that comes with responsibility.
To properly manage my life as my own, I must examine and control not only my thoughts, but also my words, actions, and even the small habits of my daily life.
Since more than 80 percent of human behavior comes from habits, if I don't gain insight into and control my daily life, my life will continue to be the same as before.
It is also important to overcome fear and anxiety.
Research shows that most of the things we worry about never actually happen.
And fear does not stop death.
It just blocks our lives.
Living my life the way I want and think it should be with clear goals is not that complicated or difficult.
But it's not easy.
This is always the stumbling block of reality.
At the end of the book, the authors vividly share their own experiences to explain how they overcame this obstacle.
In chapters 14 and 15, Alan and Barbara share their experiences.
What this couple did when their dazzling success in their 20s led to bankruptcy in their mid-40s reveals and demonstrates that their philosophy of success is not empty self-suggestion, but a way of life that actually works in the real world.
