Into the book
Thank you for your hard work.
You and me… …
We, not often
On a clear day like this,
Sometimes above the clouds
Let's have a drink each.
Tea is good, and alcohol is even better.--- "A Drink Above the Clouds"

Yeonriji… …
The two trees cherish and love each other
A thousand flowers bloomed.
Love is truly changeable
Sad and painful, or joyful and happy
It creates a thousand stories.
But looking back, in the end, it was all beautiful.
Beautiful as a flower.--- "A Thousand Stories of Love"

A tree grows from the ground
The flowers bloom on that tree
It's thanks to you that I am valued.
It's your love
That's what I did.
---「Flower tree land」

Publisher's Review
“The world is more beautiful with you in it!”
A warm word of encouragement delivered through a single flower

In 2010, the next story in the beloved "Pat Pat Picture Letter" series, which was considered one of the best "picture books for adults" of our time, was published.

The second story in the series of picture letters, "You've worked hard today," published after three years, maintains the feel of the previous work, which depicted happiness with fairytale-like pictures and warm writing, while expressing encouragement and comfort for those who are having a hard time with even deeper language.
The author's gaze, which supports and encourages those who live hard and comforts those who are tired and struggling, has become even warmer, and in the parts where he sings of the excitement of those who have just begun to love, he captures the hearts of readers with the image of a shy boy, and in the parts where he sings of the joys of life, he captures the hearts of readers with the perspective of an experienced adult.

The author's message of comfort and encouragement is small but resonates deeply, becoming essential proverbs for living.
His words convey the hope that tomorrow will be better than today, and that if you don't give up and keep going through the hard times, a more enjoyable tomorrow awaits you, resonate even more deeply because they are advice born from experience.
He also sings of the happiness, joy and pleasure of life with sincerity and steadfastness.
His story that says that even when times are difficult and heartbreaking, if you don't give in and move forward silently and with a joyful heart, you can achieve what you want to achieve, resonates more deeply than any other rhetoric.

The author's writing and drawings, which find pieces of happiness in the image of 'us' rather than 'me' and in the image of 'everyday life' rather than 'special days', blend together naturally, like one body.
This is a story that is possible because each and every picture contains its own ‘story.’
The warm emotions and cozy happiness drawn from the tip of his brush meet his writing and become a fairy tale.
His fairy tales, filled with comfort, consolation, love, and happiness, send a strong message of encouragement to those weary of everyday life.

A poem with delicate expressions, beautiful colors, and a sharp title

It was, surprisingly, a drama that gave artist Lee Soo-dong the public recognition he has today.
He began to gain public attention after it was revealed that he was the real artist of the paintings drawn by Song Seung-heon, who played the lead role in the KBS drama "Autumn in My Heart," which created the current Korean Wave.
Afterwards, his paintings began to become widely known on the Internet, especially among young people.
The simple yet delicate expressions and beautiful colors have appealed to many people regardless of age or gender.
Above all, the greatest charm hidden in his paintings lies in their titles, which contain a sharp and blunt message.

His titles, sometimes softly defined, sometimes strongly defined, summarize and compress the content of the paintings in a single word.
Even without a long explanation, the picture becomes a 'story' and can be read.
Here, the author's short but deeply resonant writings come together to weave a true 'story'.
Instead of directly saying, “Are you having a hard time?”, the author’s words of comfort, such as, “Let’s take a break for a moment,” provide warm comfort to everyone.

Take a look at the book's contents

This book, like its predecessor, is divided into four chapters.
Chapter 1, 'A Comma', gives you the space to take a break from your hectic daily life and catch your breath.
In the midst of a busy schedule, he sometimes invites people to take a moment to have a drink on the clouds, and sometimes offers a place to rest to those who are having a hard time in their daily lives by saying, "I am your chair."
In the passage where the author describes the sight of a family gathered together as being “like dancing on flowers,” the author’s warm and affectionate view of the word “family” can be seen.
The anecdote about the author's father, who never lost his passion and romance despite his difficult life, has the power to make us reflect on our current busy lives.
The author's writing and illustrations, which are gentle but not weak and contain deep meaning in their affection, make us think again about what 'rest' means.

Chapter 2, “The Carousel of Life,” contains encouragement and consolation for the difficult life.
In 'Manufacturing Blossoms', in today's society where manufacturing is struggling, a word of encouragement is given to an acquaintance who is quietly doing his best in his position, and a message of support is sent with humor and wit to salarymen for whom overwork and frequent drinking are normal.
In 'Winter Diary', the author's own story that calmly unfolds the difficult times he had to endure to get to where he is now, we can see his strong inner self that hardened after the rain.
The author's encouragement to live in a more calm and simple manner, even though daily life is difficult and arduous, is genuine for this reason.

Chapter 3, 'A Gift Called You', is a love letter to the many 'you's' in the world.
The longing for a lover who is far away is depicted in the back of a man walking alone in the snow, and the figure of someone going to meet a lover they haven't seen in a long time is as light as flying in the sky.
The story of a farmer who commissioned this artist to paint a picture for his precious wife, who believed in him and followed him after his difficult decision to become a farmer, is deeply moving.
The author's recollection that she was glad she became a painter because she could convey her precious feelings through paintings brings a pleasant smile to her face.
This chapter, which expresses the sometimes heartbreaking and sometimes exciting feelings through flowers, clouds, trees, and words, seems to show all the many colors of love.

Chapter 4, 'Beautiful Days', is a beautiful hymn to life.
It awakens the happiness that can easily be missed in everyday life and depicts the small joys of life.
A woman going on an outing on a sunny day with a light heart, a father walking home with a light step, thinking of his wife who has worked hard all this time, holding a thick envelope of salary thanks to a 'promotion', and a person running at full speed with an 'acceptance notice' in his arms are all ordinary images of us.
Through beautiful pictures, the author once again tells us how ordinary happiness can be conveyed as great joy in our ordinary appearance.

The story of "You worked hard today" does not end here.
At the end of the four chapters, there is another story, like a hidden gift.
This is 'Santorini', which the author captured on canvas while traveling to Santorini.
'Santorini', which captures the scenery of Santorini, well known for its sports drink advertisements, is composed of five episodes.
The episode depicts Greece at 2 o'clock in the afternoon under intense sunlight as a scene of first love and expresses the longing for a beautiful woman, and one feels a boldness and passion not seen in his previous writing.

The 'Daily Reflections' section at the end of each chapter contains the author's thoughts on the topic of each chapter.
The honest and candid nature contained in his short writings allows readers to get closer to his writings and drawings and feel a deeper affection for them.
