The world now wants to see at least four aspects of a person.
The reason why Paris as seen by author Lee Ki-jin, who is 2NE1 CL's father, a physics professor, a children's picture book writer, and a collector of odds and ends, is interesting is because of the various perspectives or viewpoints seen from at least four different positions.

Why does the world only think of CL as 2NE1's charismatic leader?
To author Lee Ki-jin, CL is his beloved daughter Chae-rin.
The starting point for publishing “Collage Paris” as a book was a cozy trip to Paris with Chae-rin.
Chae-rin's proposal to spend her long-awaited vacation in Paris with her father, enjoying an ordinary life, after two years, was a pleasant surprise gift to her father's life.
We sat on the floor of the art gallery and looked at the paintings without thinking, ate onion soup when we were hungry, and after regaining our energy, we took a walk along the street together.
Actually, this is all the story about Chaerin that appears in this book.
Because it was a daily routine where I literally did nothing.

Instead, author Lee Gi-jin realized that the times he spent with Chae-rin remained as fond memories, and that the trivial and ordinary things he encountered while living alone in Paris would also be greatly missed as time passed.
So, I developed a desire to create a collage of the things I felt in Paris: the empathy I shared with someone, the gaze that allowed me to truly understand something, the time that felt like it would never pass, or the moments I wanted to preserve, the pleasant regret…

Why do you think that only children or artists draw pictures?
Everyone dreams of becoming a painter at least once when they are young.
But as I entered school and the years went by, colored pencils, crayons, and brushes became things that had nothing to do with me.
But even now, as a physics professor, drawing is life itself for author Lee Ki-jin.
Even though I spend all day in my university lab, I occasionally draw to clear my head.
Then, she published a children's book with the pictures she drew for her two daughters, Chae-rin and Harin, and this picture book, "Collage Paris," was published with pictures depicting her life in Paris.

His paintings are drawn with simple lines and colors, but the point of appreciation surprisingly lies in the details.
The slightly exposed breasts and red panties of a middle-aged woman in pajamas shining shoes, two cherry tops that have been eaten and thrown away, a priest stepping on a clam shell with one sliver foot, a faucet left on as if he didn't notice because it was so delicious, an unshaven beard under the nose, or sparse calf hair, or armpit hair that catches the judge's eye, and even the bristling hair of a nervous cat (he is particularly obsessed with fur). The illustrations are very enjoyable to read.

Why does the world think collecting is only for the rich?
In art, 'collage' refers to the process of creating a work by cutting and pasting paper, printed matter, photographs, etc. onto a screen and adding touches to some parts.
The reason this book is titled “Collage Paris” is because I hope that those who read this book will have time and leisure to feel inspired and inspired by the collage image of Paris.
The methodology for finding collage images is collection.
To properly collect, author Lee Gi-jin might spend his time in Paris writing, sketching, shopping, cooking, inviting friends, taking walks, messaging, going to art galleries, wandering around flea markets on weekends, or reading books in the library.

Among the things collected in that way, there is nothing grandiose.
His collection, which appears in “Collage Paris,” includes antiques such as shoe brushes, brooms, oil cans, hand drills, hole punches, staplers, Miffy dolls, old picture books, and miscellaneous household items such as knives, potato peelers, salad baskets, emaia, blue teapots, cookie jars, butter containers, market baskets, and bread cutting boards.
Collecting is a very important life skill that allows you to find inspiration in the little things and live happily.

Why does the world think physicists don't get along with flies?
It is easy to misunderstand that the author, Lee Ki-jin, is the father of 2NE1 CL and that he is a person who is more interested in his hobbies than his main profession, physics, such as drawing and collecting odds and ends.
But he once thought he could do physics better than anyone else, and he is still a natural physicist who spends all day in the lab because physics is so fun.
His research topic is microwave physics, which even has an unfamiliar name.
He says that the core of physics is 'what would the world look like if we looked at it through invisible microwaves?'
Perhaps that is why his gaze in “Collage Paris” goes beyond what is simply visible.

Time spent relaxing at a cafe, drinking coffee, Ricard, beer cocktails like Monaco and Perrier… .
People I met in Paris, including Basquiat, Raymond Savignac, Yves Saint Laurent, antique dealers, painters, and immigrant neighbors…
His ability to find extraordinary value in ordinary things that others consider trivial, and to elicit empathy from a single word from someone, may be because he is a physicist.
