Wonderful Counselor
Description
Book Introduction
To those who are weary and burdened
The most intelligent and biblical message and comfort
There is a strong tendency in Korean religious circles to divide religion into theism and psychology into humanism.
The author of this book, Han Seong-yeol, Professor Emeritus of Psychology at Korea University, is a born-again believer and scholar who has been conducting research and counseling for 40 years on the integration of faith and psychology and how the two can be mutually beneficial.
The reason he is so fixated on this issue is because he believes that, apart from Christian doctrine, to understand the most fundamental aspects of human existence, one must also address one's relationship with God.
This book introduces the aspects of Jesus, the greatest counselor, along with his message, and contains specific approaches and hopes that we too can follow him and become "wonderful counselors" who build and save those around us.

Into the book
Jesus is the 'amazing counselor'.
We hear from Him, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
You can learn the true nature of the amazing counselor who says, “I will give you rest.”
He also showed us firsthand how to give counseling.
Thanks to this, all those who received counsel from Jesus became happy and truly loved their neighbors.
--- p.11~12
Modern counseling psychology owes much to Jesus.
It is no exaggeration to say that its origin lies in Jesus' counseling philosophy and methods.
It is only natural that modern counseling psychology, with a history of only about 150 years, has benefited greatly from Jesus, who was already active as a remarkable counselor 2,000 years ago.
--- p.39
We have no choice but to continue living in suffering until the end of the world.
That's why we need faith in God.
Only by returning to the Garden of Eden through faith (by becoming one with God again) can we truly feel peace.
--- p.43
The German Bible makes it clear why we toil, carry heavy burdens, and suffer.
It is because of the 'commandments' imposed by the legal scholars.
I was so surprised to read this.
Isn't the law God's law, which we must cherish and keep, that teaches us how we should live?
--- p.91
Psychology must recognize that there is a realm of transcendent beliefs that cannot be measured or explained by the methodologies of the world of knowledge.
Faith must accept the universal knowledge and application of the human condition, which can supplement doctrines confined to the world of belief.
Then we can help each other and achieve a common goal.
--- p.105
What would I say to a disciple who was confused by the contradictory teachings of "Abandon me" in church and "Act me" in school? This fable contains everything I've explained so far and will continue to explain.
--- p.126
The most crucial moment for positive change is when you realize that the "false self" formed by others' evaluations and judgments is not real, and when you have the courage to find your true self with the belief that you can change.
--- p.136
Whether the result of learning from Jesus is ‘rest of heart’ or ‘realization of life’, the subject is ‘me’ myself.
Thanks to what I learned from Him, I find peace of mind and my life becomes fulfilled.
Ultimately, isn't what Jesus taught us to do to live as subjects rather than objects, and to live autonomously rather than under the control of others?
--- p.151
Jesus, our wonderful counselor, shows us how to live.
In other words, please respond to my advice.
The most representative example is the famous ‘Sermon on the Mount’.
--- p.180
“Zacchaeus, come down quickly.
“I must stay at your house today.” These three words are all the advice Jesus gave Zacchaeus.
However, this is the 'crown jewel of counseling' in counseling psychology today.
It is no exaggeration to say that the foundation of counseling methods in today's psychology emerged from this counseling session with Zacchaeus.
--- p.215
After Jesus asked his disciples to pray, he began to receive counsel from God in earnest.
It is important for counseling to be conducted in a quiet place, free from distractions from other people or the environment, where the counselor and client can honestly share their inner thoughts.
--- p.268
Because Jesus is God, He provides the 'perfect' counseling that relieves all human suffering.
However, counseling provided by finite humans naturally has limitations.
Because humans need a world of faith that is different from the world of academia.
However, the goals and methods of alleviating the suffering of humans who toil and carry heavy burdens in reality and of realizing their potential are almost identical in Jesus' counseling and human counseling.
--- p.302~303
In order for desirable fellowship to be established among believers, the church must teach Jesus' counseling method.
That way, we can give each other good advice.

Publisher's Review
What kind of advice would Jesus give?
How to seek immediate counseling and find rest and peace when you are in pain
I really love Jesus, our amazing counselor.
There are many reasons.
The main subject I teach is ‘Counseling Psychology.’
I have studied and taught counseling psychology my entire life, and have been providing counseling directly in the field.
So, how much can we learn from him? It's a great joy and honor for me as a psychologist.
And how comforting and exciting it is to live with such an amazing counselor as a lifelong believer!
What kind of counseling would Jesus offer? The essence of His counseling ministry was, "I will give you rest."
Jesus is the friend of orphans and widows, the suffering and the downtrodden, and the counselor of those who are weary and burdened.
As long as we live on this earth, we cannot help but toil and bear heavy burdens.
However, if you have a great counselor, Jesus Christ, with you 24 hours a day, you can receive immediate counseling and find rest and peace when you are in pain.
So you can live in heaven anytime, anywhere.
