Kim Jang-ha, an adult story told to teenagers
Kim Jang-ha, an adult story told to teenagers
Description
Book Introduction
Meet Kim Jang-ha, the nameless adult who quietly changed the world.

When someone's name becomes known to the world, it is usually because he made a big noise.
But this book introduces a character who is the opposite.
A man who worked his entire life at a pharmacy in Jinju, quietly spreading good influence like fertilizer.
"Adult Kim Jang-ha for Teenagers" tells the story of an adult who made the world beautiful in the nameless passage of time, from the perspective of teenagers.

Mr. Kim Jang-ha persuaded the world with actions rather than words.
As he said, “Money is like dung; if you hoard it, it rots, and if you scatter it, it becomes fertilizer,” he generously distributed his wealth to society.
Through scholarships, donations, and support for human rights and the media, he lived a life for those in greater need than himself.
Still, he did not want anyone to praise him, but just 'see him as he is'.
Those words permeate throughout this book and quietly touch the reader's heart.
This book is a wonderful story, but more than that, it serves as a mirror for all of us to ask ourselves what it means to be a "good adult."
By following the everyday life of an ordinary yet great man, rather than the biography of a special hero, we come to believe that we too can create such 'quiet miracles.'
A time to ask yourself what the true value of life is and what kind of adult you want to become.
This book is the warmest guide to that question.

Into the book
Former Constitutional Court Justice Moon Hyung-bae, born the son of a poor farmer in Hadong-gun, Gyeongsangnam-do, had difficulty graduating from middle school, having inherited an old school uniform and books from a relative.
In high school, I met Kim Jang-ha, who ran a herbal medicine shop, and received a scholarship until I graduated from college. Thanks to him, I was also able to pass the bar exam.
Mr. Kim Jang-ha, who paid for his tuition, was not just a person to be grateful to, but a life mentor who taught him how to live.
“The teacher personally showed us that the Republic of Korea is a place where we can build wealth based on freedom, eliminate unreasonable discrimination by pursuing equality, and strengthen the community through philanthropy.
When I passed the bar exam and went to say hello, he said, 'You don't have to thank me.
“I have never forgotten the words of my teacher, ‘I have given you what belongs to this society, so if you want to repay it, repay it to this society, not to me.’”
--- From "Former Constitutional Court Justice Moon Hyung-bae"

There was no separate space for the principal to stay within the school.
The chairman also didn't go to school very often except on days when there were special events or meetings.
The foundation board meetings were also held in the principal's office, and any matters requiring approval were handled in the office.
When I went to school, I took the bus or a bicycle.
The sight of the chairman entering the school on a bicycle left a deep impression on the students of this school.
One of the alumni of this school clearly remembers Chairman Kim Jang-ha bringing Bacchus to the site of the students' college entrance physical fitness test (currently the Student Health and Physical Evaluation System).
“I remember when I was in my third year of college and doing the physical fitness test.
I remember going to the Dongmyeong High School playground and Chairman Kim Jang-ha came to the students, holding a heavy bottle of Bacchus in both hands.
When he came to encourage our students, wearing a shabby suit and holding a bottle of Bacchus himself, without paying attention to whether there was a lot of Bacchus or not, all the third-year students from Myeongsin High School who were doing the physical training at the time stood up and applauded without anyone saying anything.
Everyone stood up voluntarily, even though the teacher didn't tell them to.
“It seems that the students’ hearts were already filled with respect.”

Publisher's Review
A Name That Left a Positive Influence: Kim Jang-ha - Life Lessons for Teenagers

"Adult Kim Jang-ha for Teenagers" is a story about the life of Kim Jang-ha, a doctor at Namseongdang Pharmacy in Jinju, Gyeongnam Province, told from the perspective of teenagers.
Although his life may seem ordinary on the surface, his every step has left a deep and wide resonance in the community.
From scholarships and donations to human rights advocacy and media support? His quiet journey became known to the world through the documentary "Adult Kim Jang-ha," and this book was designed to convey that emotion in a more nuanced way.

Mr. Kim Jang-ha was a person who was more faithful to practice than anyone else.
Without revealing his name, he quietly gave his assets, time, and heart to make the world a better place.
He covered the tuition of several children, helped a newspaper survive, and consistently advocated for the socially disadvantaged.
His life is an excellent textbook that shows what it means to live like an adult, not just to talk about being an adult.
This book is not simply a biography or a collection of anecdotes.
It guides readers through the life of a character and encourages them to think about the essence of life.
It also teaches us the values of community and reminds us of the meaning of responsibility, consideration, and practice.
A book that makes teenagers think about the kind of adults they desperately want in this day and age, and what kind of adults they will become in the future, "Adult Kim Jang-ha for Teenagers."
This book fulfills that role honestly and warmly.
