Into the book
YouTube is reaching a wider range of people.
It is emerging as the most influential medium across age and gender, from children and young people to the elderly.
Nowadays, a single piece of fun and informative YouTube content is more influential than street preaching.
Churches can effectively utilize YouTube for missionary work.

We asked church members who responded that their church was doing lay ministry what it would be like if lay people took on the ministry.
‘No problem’ (51.2%) accounted for half.
31.9% of respondents said, "They are inferior to pastors."
On the other hand, 6.8% of respondents said, "It seems like they do it better than pastors."
This, combined with the response that there is “no particular problem,” shows that about 60% of Protestants view lay ministry positively.

--- p.97

In general, church membership and religious activity are declining, but that's not all.
If we look closely, we see that there is still a desire to experience and express a vibrant faith.
Therefore, the polarization of religion presents us with both a sense of crisis and a hopeful challenge.

Christian Generation Z grew up in a digital environment, exposed to various cultural, social, and educational influences.
This background has played a significant role in helping Generation Z Christians grow into more open-minded and socially conscious believers, and it foreshadows that when they reach middle age, they will present a significantly different image in the church and society than the current generation.

--- p.182

Recently, the number of unmarried singles has been increasing in our society, and the church is no exception.
Should churches create a worship service (community) for singles, separate from the college youth group?
In this 'Korean Church Trend 2025 Survey', 73.1% of singles responded that they need a worship service (community) just for singles, and 74.4% of pastors also responded that they need a worship service (community) just for singles, showing that the need for singles worship (community) is very high.

--- p.218

Secularization is a stark reality and a crisis for faith and the church, but it must be accepted as an inevitable condition faced by believers and church communities living in modern society.
At the same time, we must seek out post-secular Christians and practical church communities that can communicate with the world while overcoming secularization.
Just as the spirit of the Reformed Church states, “The reformed church must continue to be reformed” (Ecclesia reformata, est semper reformanda), the church community created by God must be remade without losing its essential identity even in today’s secularized world.
--- p.288~289

If the Korean church wants to cruise along the great current of God's mission rather than drift, it must change.
We must provide education and training programs that are appropriate for the times and generations, continuously strive to adapt activities to the changing missionary environment, and establish new standards related to missions.
Support for missionaries must go beyond simply meeting their individual needs and help them navigate a new season of missions.
The era we live in is not an era of a few heroes.
It is an era of great communities responding to the call.

Publisher's Review
"Korean Church Trends 2025" is the third book in the "Korean Church Trends" series, the only trend analysis book on the Korean church that analyzes and diagnoses the Korean church through precise figures and statistics.
The Korean church is recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic and finding its footing again.
The diagnosis is that with approximately 10-15 percent of church members having left after the coronavirus pandemic, the remaining church members are actively engaging in their individual religious and church life, leading to the recovery of the Korean church.
In an age of contraction, polarization has deepened in the church, and among them, a positive trend of pursuing depth of faith has been discovered due to the polarization of faith, and euvangelism and orthopraxy are analyzed as mechanisms for active restoration of faith.
It emphasizes the potential of the laity as a new ministry group in the Korean church and suggests a direction for multi-generational ministry that coexists with generations such as Generation Z, the 30-40 generation who value religious beliefs, family Christians, singles, and seniors who are still dynamically active in the church.
This book will be a must-read for pastors, church leaders, and lay leaders who want to understand the new horizons of ministry that will lead to change, growth, and revival beyond church restoration in 2025.
