Into the book
Only by living according to the conditions of creation can we live life properly.
God loves and we are loved, God creates and we are created, God reveals and we understand, God commands and we respond—that is the condition of creation.
To become a Christian is to accept the conditions of creation.
Accepting God as my Creator and Savior and growing into a more glorious creation in Christ every day.
It is to experience the joy of tasting the wonder of being created in the image of God.
--- From "5/22 'In the Image of God'"

What kind of God do we learn from the Bible, the God in Christ? He knows what it feels like to change diapers twelve times a day.
He knows how it feels to have a carefully crafted report sit on someone's desk for weeks, gathering dust.
Among the books about God, there is one titled The God Who Stands, Stoops, and Stays.
This is a well-condensed expression of the blessing posture.
God rises.
He is the foundation and the pillar.
God is humble.
He kneels down to our level and meets us in our place.
God stays.
He never leaves our side, whether times are good or bad, and lives with us with grace and peace.
--- From "6/21 'God is with us'"

Prayer brings us into God's will.
Action is prepared in the silent paradise.
Prayers are not simply piled up on the altar, but return to the earth mixed with the fire of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer is as much an outward activity as an inward one.
Prayer is the most practical thing a human being can do.
Prayer is not a mystical escape, but an intervention into history.
Prayer participates in God's action.
God gathers and uses all of our cries, our praises, our petitions, and our intercessions.
The prayers that ascended to God now come down to earth.
--- From "10/1 'Prayer is a Practical Thing'"

God's world is big.
It is much bigger than the world of kings and monarchs and prime ministers and presidents, much bigger than the world reported in newspapers and on television.
You need to use your imagination to see it.
The Word that governs God's world is not a follow-up to the world of stock markets, rocket launches, and summits.
All of it is already in the Word.
It takes imagination to see this.
The answer to that need is found in Psalm 2.
He is the Messiah.
The Messiah is the person of God who came into history.
He enters our world, where we go to school, work, go to war, and move here and there.
Come in, come in person.
--- From "11/24 'God Coming as a Person'"

Publisher's Review
Where prayer sprouts
It's in all the little things of everyday life.
It is the loneliest corner of our hearts.
“He doesn’t play hide-and-seek with us.
He is not far away.
He is near.
For in Him we live and move.”
_Acts 17:27-28, Message
