Let us live for the joy of God
Description
Book Introduction
“Do only what pleases me!” Think about how you can please God. Do not be afraid, seek God's pleasure, and obey only. A final message from Pastor Yoo Ki-seong of Good Shepherd Church, who is nearing retirement. “Now, as we go through these fearful and difficult times, is the time to live for God’s joy!” The author received clear instructions to think about what would please God and to obey, no matter how difficult the times were. Because grace is more evident when trials and hardships come, not when things are comfortable, going well, or successful. So, dedicating myself solely to God's joy is the path of faith that can overcome the hardships that come into my life. It also emphasizes that if you do things that please God, you will inevitably become a person whom God is pleased with. I strongly recommend this book to Christians who are going through the dark night of life and are unsure of what to live for. I hope that you will live a life filled with joy. |

Into the book
While the challenges of COVID-19 continue, and there are many concerns about the Korean church, our country, and even our own personal circumstances, our task is simple.
At every moment, I only think about 'How can I please God?'
--- p.14
Folks, the time given to us is truly limited.
How much have you lived to please God throughout your life? When I think about it, it's almost embarrassing to even meet the Lord.
--- p.25
We are conditional people who are happy only when we meet happy people and when happy things happen to us.
But God has 'joy' in His nature.
This is mind-blowing.
So, our belief in God is salvation.
--- p.41
Now is the time to truly take a gamble on God.
Every word we say is pleasing to God, and every action and every small decision is pleasing to God.
Instead of saying it's hard or difficult, I hope you live a life where you dedicate your entire life to God.
--- pp.88~89
Because we bear the name of Jesus, we may be persecuted, ridiculed, and suffer losses in the world.
But no matter what happens, please do not forget God's name.
How great will be the pride and joy of the church and saints who bear God's name when the kingdom of God comes?
--- p.106
This is the message God is giving us now.
Are these difficult times? Are you going through the night? What should we do at night? Let us not sigh, complain, worry, or fear, but praise God.
--- p.121
But we must not be satisfied with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
Can we not simply grieve the Holy Spirit and repeat the cycle of repentance throughout our lives? We must not be content with the Holy Spirit within us, but strive to abide in Jesus.
--- p.181
Some Christians have faith in the history of prayer, while others have little faith in prayer.
Few people truly believe in prayer.
If all believers in Jesus had faith in the power of prayer, the church would be different than it is today.
--- p.231
Many Christians think that evangelism is difficult, but in reality, it is very easy.
Because it is the Lord's own work.
All we have to do is embrace the lost souls with the heart of God.
--- p.257
We must pray until Jesus appears greater than the person we fear most.
There are people I fear when I go to work.
When you do business, there are people you are afraid of.
When you are in front of that person, you become strangely intimidated, lie, flatter, tell lies, and live a wrong life.
Because I am spiritually oppressed.
So, we are told to look to the Lord.
As we look to the Lord and go out each day conscious of Him, a reversal takes place in our hearts.

What God will be pleased with
Just think about something and obey
Over the past three years, as we have been going through difficult times due to COVID-19, I have been praying with a fearful and anxious heart. The Lord has told me, “Do not be afraid. Just think about what pleases God and do only that.”
Those words freed me from the prison of fear and anxiety.
When I retired from my position as pastor of Good Shepherd Church and spent my sabbatical month praying for my post-retirement life, the Lord spoke the same words to me.
“Do not be afraid of anything, but think only of what pleases God and obey.” When the COVID-19 pandemic was so difficult, one of the associate pastors cried out during a sermon, “We have now met a good time.”
I said a loud “Amen.”
Because grace is revealed not when things are comfortable, good, or successful, but when trials and hardships come.
That is why we should not judge God's grace by looking at our circumstances and situations.
The times when we feel discouraged and hopeless are times of clear grace.
I only hold on to the word of the Lord and live in obedience, looking only to the Lord at every moment.
