The Breath of God
Description
Book Introduction
Meditation on the Word according to the Catechumenate (Baptismal Preparation Course of the Early Church) The essence of the gospel that the early Christians chewed over and embodied Today, meditate anew here. “Catch your breath, which has been short in the world, before the word of God.” Blessed days of growing one step at a time through the Word every day! This is a collection of meditations on the Word of God that helps you grow into a strong tree of faith by reflecting on the Word of God every day, following the 'catechumenate', the preparatory course for baptism in the early church. At a time when many Christians are struggling in the valley of daily life and losing their vitality under the heavy burden of uncertainty, the author guides us on a 365-day journey of faith through the early Christians to discover the form the church needs to recover. In the early church before Christianity was recognized, the equation 'baptized person = true Christian' was established. Because becoming a Christian entailed the risk of persecution and martyrdom, the decision to be baptized was not easy, and the religious community was also cautious in accepting those who were to be baptized. So, in order for a prospective Christian in the early church to be baptized and converted, he or she had to go through a long and difficult process of two to three years. During this period, they spent time with the community, listening to doctrines and moral teachings, and asking themselves various questions about their faith and life as Christians, and making decisions. At the same time, the community also focused on verifying whether this person was well-versed in the teachings and whether there were any real changes in his life. Those who passed the community's verification could become candidates for baptism, and after going through a series of processes and taking vows, could be reborn as true Christians. This entire process of rebirth is called 'catechumenate'. However, in 313 AD, when Christianity was legalized in the Roman Empire and the baptism process was simplified, countless people were baptized too easily without much thought and rebirth, becoming Christians in name only. There are Christians who have not been reborn because their faith was not yet fully mature, and this continues to this day. We need the breath of God to live a vibrant life, breathing with God, not an empty piety. This book helps you stop breathing heavily in the world, catch your breath with God's word, and fill your life with vitality. It includes daily scriptures and profound, insightful writings focused on Christian growth and maturity, as well as meditation questions for the community to share. You can also continue meditating on “God’s Breath” through the YouTube channel “Pastor Kim Byeong-sam’s Daily Meeting.” Just as new shoots sprout from withered branches after winter, we are led to live each day breathing with the Lord who has overcome hardships and blossoming with life. |

Into the book
There is no burden so heavy as uncertainty.
It is not because of the burden that we fall, but because we cannot bear it.
Spiritual life is about enjoying certainty even in uncertainty.
When we truly believe in God, we can cast our uncertainties and heavy burdens on Him.
Companionship is unity.
There are prerequisites to walking with God.
It is living in God's way.
It is to abandon my own will and desires, and walk with God, becoming like God's character and personality.
Through the process of coming into alignment with God, we can become holy.
When your mission is restored, your life becomes vibrant.
We need faithfulness.
In the word ‘dedication’, the character for ‘body’ (身) is used instead of the character for ‘heart’ (心) in the character for ‘dedication’ (獻).
In other words, dedication is not a word or a heart, but a sweaty effort.
If you are lazy, you cannot be dedicated.
Faithfulness is not something grand, but something that happens every day, one step at a time.
We live in reality, not on the summit of Mount Byunhwa.
Reality isn't beautiful, poetic, or exciting every moment.
The joy felt at the high peak is now filled with the daily life of the valley.
Jesus is the answer to every problem.
There is no other way than prayer.
Pray in faith, focusing on Jesus, not on the problem, the solution, or your expectations.
All authority in heaven and on earth belongs to Jesus.
The early church members lived like strangers.
I was persecuted and persecuted because I believed in Jesus.
The saints were scattered strangers, but at the same time they were chosen ones.
Although they may seem to live uncertain lives, they are also the most confident people.
Even tribulation and persecution cannot separate us from the love of God.
God will protect your children with His power.
