Into the book
There are so many stories I want to solve through study, but in this book, I would like to talk about the ones I am best at.
That is 'mathematics'.
The mathematics I'm talking about here isn't a specialized level of study that scholars deal with, but rather a subject like a magic carpet that will help you easily get into a good university.
The math required to do well on the CSAT does not require a higher level of knowledge than you might think.
It is an honest and valuable subject in which anyone can achieve a certain level of score if they put in the time.
---From "Studying taught me the joy of digging deep and conquering what I didn't know until I knew it."

Thanks to always doing my best in my studies, I was always number one in the whole school.
Even now, when I'm over 40, my heart races when I hear the words "I'm number one."
The title of number one is quite addictive, regardless of age.
After winning first place again and again, a strange feeling of greed stirred within me, not wanting to lose first place again.
I quickly became addicted to the praise of my mother, the respect of my teachers at school, and the feeling of superiority that came with being better than my friends.
That was the reason and driving force behind my studies.

If you think about it, everything in the world is like that.
You never know the fun of riding a bicycle until you roll your first wheel.
The joy of playing a song to the end is incomparable to the fun of pressing the keys.
Learning each and every move may be difficult, but you will be able to experience true joy when you finally master the b-boying technique.
Anything can only be achieved through practice, failing dozens or even tens of thousands of times.
And the learning that brings that joy is different for each person.
For me, mathematics was a subject that brought me such joy.

So, just because you follow the methods I describe in this book, it won't lead to quick improvement in your grades.
Only by consistently devoting countless hours and efforts to the subject of mathematics every day, every month, and every year, with reference to my personalized method, can a personalized study method be created for each individual.
Once you master your own study method, you will not be discouraged under any circumstances.
---From "The Opportunities Studying Math Gave Me"

Depth in mathematics is not proportional to speed.
It is true that it is a subject that requires a long period of study, but it does not mean that you should start studying it before entering elementary school or 12 years before taking the CSAT.
When I say 'a long time', I mean that when you start studying math in earnest, you should take the time to think deeply about the meaning and problems of the math concepts.

---From "3-Step Math Warm-up to Build a Foundation"

In fact, many of the students I taught had varying levels of math ability when they first met me.
From a student who was in the third year of middle school but couldn't even solve simple calculation problems at the first-year level, to a high school sophomore who was frustrated at the threshold of a grade 1 with just over a year left until the college entrance exam.
Although the math skills, study methods, and grade levels accumulated over the years varied, all of the students who studied with me for 1 to 3 years achieved their entrance exam results.
In the actual CSAT, I achieved the math score I had desperately wanted, and at least a grade 2 or 3, and even a grade 1.
You can do it too.
If you continue to study math diligently and tirelessly as you have done so far, you will definitely achieve the results you want in the upcoming college entrance exam.

---From "3 Steps to Mastering Math to Ensure a Higher Grade"

If there's something you truly want and aim for, I want to tell you to boldly pursue it, no matter how old you are or what economic and social circumstances you find yourself in.
The value of effort is never determined by 'pass or fail'.
The value of effort is like a staircase.
Even if it ends in failure, you are not still at the 'starting point before the challenge'.
There comes a moment when you realize that you have already climbed quite a few stairs without even realizing it.
We are still a few steps away from opening the door to good results.

Publisher's Review
“Math is my most powerful weapon!”
The essence of studying that I realized after attending Seoul National University for 14 years.

The subject that students say is the most difficult to study is definitely math.
Students who declare that they will give up on math early on often fall into the trap of thinking that math is not a subject they can overcome no matter how hard they try.
But math gives us the opportunity to go out into the bigger world and achieve our dreams.
Even when I'm busy finishing up other subjects with the CSAT just over a year away, math is a solid support that doesn't let up.
If you study step by step, it will definitely come back to you as a gift.

Director Seo Jun-seok, who has won various math competitions since elementary school, topped the entrance exam for civil engineering high schools, and is the only person in Korea to have graduated from all three schools, including Seoul National University's medical school, dental school, and engineering school, emphasizes that math for the college entrance exam is a subject that anyone can conquer.
He realized the truth about studying mathematics by personally experiencing the study journey of numerous so-called genius students at Daechi-dong academies and science high schools.
I wrote this book in the hope that more students will realize that they can achieve good grades in math even if they don't have natural talent or start studying a little late.

"I Wanted to Be Good at Math" is a book that reveals in detail the math study secrets of mentor Seo Jun-seok, who was known as the "math teacher who always raised students' grades by 5" during his time as a private tutor.
This is a study method proven by numerous successful college entrance exam experiences, including the author's experience of graduating from Seoul National University's College of Engineering, then entering Seoul National University's College of Medicine through the CSAT at age 23, and then entering Seoul National University's College of Dentistry again at age 32, as well as a student who studied with the author, despite having math skills that were not even at a middle school level, and was eventually accepted to his target university.
No matter what your current level in math is, if you study step by step, math will become your most powerful weapon.

“Anyone can become a top student in math!”
The 3x3 Step Math Study Method That Guarantees a Grade Increase

There is no early or late time to study math.
The only question is whether you studied shallowly or deeply.
Moreover, anyone can achieve a top grade in math on the CSAT.
There are no new problems in the CSAT math section.
These are all just familiar problems that we have learned and experienced.
So, there is only one thing we need to do to conquer mathematics.
Developing your own personalized study method by consistently investing a lot of time and effort in the subject of mathematics.
Then it will never collapse under any circumstances.

This book contains a six-step math study roadmap that anyone can follow to improve their grades.
The book begins with Part 1, which explains why you should study math, based on the story of the author, who once received a zero on a math test but later discovered its appeal and went on to win admissions to Seoul National University's medical, dental, and engineering schools. Part 2 assesses your math level and guides you through building a solid foundation based on each level. Part 3 presents a three-step method for conquering the CSAT math test to secure a top ranking. Part 4 contains five essential things you need to know before giving up on math.
In addition, it provides practical help in establishing specific college entrance strategies and achieving goals, including a SPECIAL PART containing vivid college entrance exam know-how from a Seoul National University triple crown winner that you can't hear anywhere else, and an appendix for parents who want to raise their children to be good students.

This book doesn't simply tell you empty promises like, "If you study like this, your grades will improve."
The author, who once studied simply to meet his mother's expectations, presents a practical method of studying mathematics that he learned through his own experience taking numerous entrance exams.
Math is no longer something to be feared or avoided.
Anyone can be friends with math.
