Description
Book Introduction
The next story in the mega-bestseller "Laziness," which moved 400,000 readers.
Since its publication in 2003, a total of 202 editions and approximately 400,000 copies have been sold.
The story behind the best-selling and steady-selling book, “Laziness”
Delivered in a new format and unconventional style.

Faith is living meaningfully toward God.
Now that I've found meaning, I can't live lazy, right?
At the end of life, when we are left alone, what was there disappears and what was not there appears.
May we become those who can pray, “God, receive my spirit!”
May you become a person who strives to live well, a person who lives that way with God's love.
Live as a person whose reason for living is as clear as his reason for dying.
Because then you will be happy.

Even as we talk, time passes by in jealousy.

Seize this day.
Believing in tomorrow as little as possible.

Quintus Horatius Flaccus

It's not that the life we're given is short, it's that we make it so.

It's not that we don't have enough time in life, it's that we waste it.
Seneca (Lucius Annaeus Seneca)

The agony and struggle of Christians who want to live a life of sanctification still persists, but on the other hand, believers who are immersed in self-love and cold do not know how to recover and do not even have the will to recover.
Just as facts remain even as time passes, faith must remain alive even as times change.
In a changing era, unchanging truths must shine even brighter.
Even now, as everything changes, the author looks upon this generation with unchanging love and pity, and appeals to them in a more sincere tone to return to a life of meaning before God, so that they can accept it.

Into the book
“Why don’t modern people read books?” I spent a year studying modern novels and a language I had never encountered before.
And then I discovered two things.
First, today's readers prefer concise, short sentences over long sentences with lots of formulas.
Second, I like emotional writing more than logical writing.
『Laziness Again』 has adopted a new writing style to suit the changing tastes of readers.
It was a very special attempt for me.
My only wish is this:
As readers read this book, I hope the contents seep into their hearts like the air they breathe in, making them exhale.
Also, I hope that when you exhale, you can bring up thoughts from your heart, like the air you exhale, “Phoooo.”
---From the "Preface"

That was my life back then.
The life of an atheist in search of freedom.
There was no one to blame for being lazy.
The crossroads of life and death.
There was a more pressing question.
To be, or not to be, that is the Question:

When I found out who I was,
When I knew solemnly that I was noble,
father.
You breathed life into my dead heart.

It was love that made me cry.
He who created me has saved me,
I was lazy because of the wrong love.
Life resists all death,
Love holds up the torch of resistance to the lazy heart.
---From the "Prologue"

How do you live?
There is a question before that.
Who am I?
If you know that, won't you be able to live diligently or not?

wisdom.
Knowing the order of life.
By loving the Lord who created me and saved me,
There is order in life.
You come to know and accept it in your heart.
There is peace and happiness within that order.

You can't be wise and lazy,
It is foolish to be able to live lazily.
If you truly love something, that is the pinnacle.
A new order is established beneath it.
All love is like that.

Love God.
That is the foundation of wisdom.
Wisdom is knowing the proper order.
The truth is worth telling.

The value of truth
It's about bringing order to chaos.
If you love God, you accept the order He has established.
It is the order that blesses all things within you.
harmony.
resection.
Equality.
All things find peace and rest in it.
---From "Chapter 2 Carpe Diem"

Ah, I want to live like that flowing river.
I don't take anything away from anyone.
I want to live a life that benefits everyone.
My everything.
Because it comes from the good one.

Like a river in the desert,
Flowing through dry places, moistening everything
How nice would it be to live there?
To do that, you need resources.
The earth's resources that I can dispose of as I please.
Wisdom, virtue, love, knowledge, material things, and talent.

All resources.
It comes only from Him and is enjoyed.
There is a time for giving, so do it when you can prepare.
Save it for when you need it.
Don't worry about not being able to use it all,
Be concerned about hurting others.
So that we can help the poor people as much as we can.
---From "Chapter 3: The Legend of the Ants"

Grace is the influence of love.
When you are inspired by God's love, you become zealous.
Not being passionate about anything is not love.

False love only loves things of the flesh,
True love is what belongs to the soul and what belongs to the body.
Love in an orderly manner,
This way, you will not be afraid of death.
It's the power of love.

Life is boring because there is no love that attracts you.
Even if you love the world, you can be so passionate,
How could I not want to do something with my heart when I love Him?
---From "Chapter 4: Today, Like a Gift"

Even though the audience is cheering, the curtain falls on the stage.
At the end of this road, the curtain will fall on my life.
After taking off the stage costume I was wearing and removing my makeup,
There is space where you are thrown alone.
What was will not be, and what was not will appear.
The endorphins that pour into your body at that time are like a bouquet of flowers at a retirement party.

God, receive my soul!
Tree of life.
The moment when the flower petals fall.
Can anyone pray like this?
Only those who strive to live well can do so.
A person who lived like that with God's love.

At that time, I also want to become a pretty flower petal.
You too are fluttering in the blue sky with me
Become a pretty flower petal.

Live as a person whose reason to live is as clear as his reason to die.
Because then you will be happy.
---From the "Epilogue"

Publisher's Review
The author begins this book by confessing that he was able to escape from his pessimistic state only when he realized how precious he was before God and understood that he had been lazy due to misguided self-love, despite the despair of his youth when he chose the life of an atheist because he could not find a reason to live.
The new book, "Laziness Again," is a book that tells us through experience that only love and gratitude toward God can give us the strength to reject our lethargic and sluggish hearts and move forward into new life.
By reiterating the theme of his previous work, “Laziness,” that laziness, or lack of passion, which renders life meaningless, stems from a distaste for the soul, in a new style that is not bound by form or genre, he guides readers to more sensitively grasp and accept the message.

To live a life of mere vanity simply because you were born is not living; it is just existing without meaning.
Knowing God, the only truth, and reflecting on His immeasurable love for us, loving Him and living according to His will is the reason we were born and our duty.
By living correctly at the time we are supposed to live, we can stand boldly before God at the time we are supposed to die.

Laziness is a disease of the soul that does not love God.
It is a disease that causes one to be unable to be zealous in good deeds due to a wrong love for oneself.
This sick mind comes from a dead soul, so kill it and the living will live, and the living will die according to their nature.

Because we are beings loved by the Almighty God, and therefore are solemnly and preciously precious beings that cannot be exchanged for anything in the world, we must possess a dignity befitting that status.
This life that God has given me as a gift must not only save me, but also help others live.
To do so, we must live as fervent beings before God, free from the disease of laziness that pollutes all our thoughts and impoverishes even our spirit.
With all this enlightenment and encouragement, the author emotionally portrays the coming end of his life.
I earnestly hope that when I come down from the stage, take off my costume, remove my makeup, and am left alone, I can calmly and peacefully pray, “God, receive my spirit.”
Having traversed life's path more desperately than anyone else, having fully experienced its sweet and bitter mystery, I share with readers my concerns and determination about how difficult it is to offer such a prayer at that time with a sincerity that simply pours out, and what kind of life one must live to be able to offer such a prayer.

Just as flowers that bloomed splendidly and beautifully wither when the time comes, and even their withering appearance is sad and makes them all the more sorrowful, so too, we must live our lives fervently in obedience to God with love so that our lives do not become mere petals that wither in vain.
I wish to live a life always remembering that this season, when flowers bloom and fall, could be our last days.

Although we, as sinners, cannot help but feel confused and discouraged by our imperfect lives, this book makes us realize that we cannot live lazy and meaningless lives because there is a God who loves us. This book is even more impressive because of the unconventional writing style and structure of the author, Pastor Namjun Kim.
The author, who has been actively writing for nearly 30 years, has conveyed his vast academic knowledge and thoughts through legal and logical writing, but in this book, he has completely broken away from the existing format and framework.
The concise and short lines of writing, which are neither poetry nor prose, ignore the principles of order and rhyme, and make us more keenly aware of the content between the lines in the labyrinthine condensation.
The friendly and familiar tone makes it easy to convey, but the weight of the principles and morals contained within it is not light, making you read it repeatedly and ponder it.

For modern people who are accustomed to change, do not prefer preachy writing, and do not know how to listen to others' opinions, this new writing style, which conveys a message like Socratic dialogue at the boundary between written and spoken language, has the power to convince the subject instantly and has the authority to leave an impression on them even if they do not want to accept it.
This writing is the product of the author's painstaking efforts to convey to a wider audience what it means to live a truly meaningful life.

Eighteen years after the first edition of "Laziness" was published, the appeal hidden between the lines is all the more poignant, as it conveys with greater clarity the valuation of the soul that humans will one day have to face, with a deeper intellect and insight.

This book reminds us that humans are not disgusting beings because they are incompetent, but rather objects that evoke feelings of pity. It urges us to live a life that fulfills the reason to live by breaking free from the spiritual illness of laziness with endless compassion and love, with deeper wisdom, and with a heartfelt earnestness behind calm speech, following the example of Jesus Christ. I sincerely hope that through this book, you will once again reflect on your own life and faith.
