Into the book
I think things like this happen to teenagers sometimes too.
I see people around me getting hurt a lot because they are just a little slow and careful in their actions, but they can't handle things quickly.
Of course, it would be nice to study quickly, go to school, and do a good job at your work, but there's no reason to be ignored just because you're slow.
It's just that it's slow, but because you get scolded and evaluated so many times, you become more and more lethargic and give up.
It's something you just have to believe and wait for someday you'll be able to do it.
It doesn't matter how fast or slow you act.
What matters is whether you are doing something consistently now.
---From "Is Slowness a Bad Thing?"
Ever since I learned that both of Im Eun-kyung's parents are hearing impaired, I've always wanted to meet them and share my story if I had the chance.
The intention was to give people a little thrill by revealing to the world the bruise that must have been tied to the heart of such a beautiful and lovely girl.
Because I thought that was the shortcut to making this world a slightly better place.
Children of hearing-impaired parents often have difficulty learning to speak.
Language is something that you learn by constantly listening to your mother and repeating what she says, but this is an environment where that is impossible.
So, the first thing I wondered was how she, who is so good at talking, could do that.
“Your parents are disabled. How did you learn to speak?”
---From "Meeting a Woman of Fantastic Beauty"
It was only after I received my first semester report card that I finally came to my senses.
Even during that time, there were friends who studied hard and received scholarships, and there were also friends who wrote and published their work here and there.
For several months, I lived the life of a useless 'loser'.
A useless person who rejects reality without even the courage to change it.
That was my cowardly current state.
I asked myself a fundamental and painful question.
“Will you be someone who makes the school proud, or will you be someone the school makes proud?”
---From "People the School is Proud of"
When I was young, I would walk down the street and deliberately turn away from any shop windows I came across.
It was because of the sight of me walking with crutches.
I always thought of myself as a proud member of society, someone who wouldn't be subservient to anyone, but whenever I passed by a shop window, that thought would be shattered.
'Ah, so that's what I look like.
My appearance was so bad at the time that I thought, 'That's how people see me!'
He stood with crutches, but his legs were short and weak, as they had not grown.
My shoulders and upper body were developed, but I was the one who walked with my legs twisted like that.
But I didn't feel sad because of that appearance.
Because it was something I couldn't do anything about.
I thought of myself as noble and precious enough not to be hurt by my appearance.

5 Thinking Habits That Increase Your Value
What are five things that don't exist in the world?
Author Goh Jeong-wook's delightful self-esteem class begins with a very interesting question.
“What are five things that do not exist in the world?” The answers are: impossible, giving up, free, easy, and useless.
The author says, “People with low self-esteem have difficulty respecting others, always consider their misfortunes as their own, and fold their wings of challenge after a single failure.
With such low self-esteem, you can't love those around you.
“Of course, you can’t accomplish great things,” he says.
This book provides comfort and encouragement to teenagers who are exhausted from studying, have made many mistakes, experienced failure, and are suffering from emotional wounds due to being too sensitive. It also fosters five habits of thinking that will help you rediscover your own worth.
One, there's no such thing as 'impossible': I support you as much as you dream.
Two, there's no such thing as 'giving up': you just don't know how yet.
Three, there is no such thing as a 'free lunch': Your hard work muscles are growing!
Fourth, there's no such thing as "easy": Cheers to a better today than yesterday.
Five, there are no such things as "useless people": Don't worry, I'll lend you confidence.
Build your own self-confidence and self-esteem!
