Resurrection, looking beyond the fear of death to eternity!

As the world trembles under the threat of the virus and the fear of death, the only thing we must hold onto is the 'faith in resurrection.'
This book contains stories that were not included in the MBC special documentary, “Resurrection,” along with on-site photos.
We followed the sacred traces left by the witnesses of the resurrection to the Ganges River, a holy place for Hindus, Chennai, India, where the Apostle Thomas was martyred, the catacombs, the underground tombs of early Christians, the church where the Apostle Peter's tradition remains, and the site of the Apostle Paul's martyrdom.
What were they looking forward to as they were bold in the face of death because they believed in the resurrection of Jesus?

Missionary Lee Yong-gyu and Director Kim Sang-cheol, who are companions on the journey of "Resurrection" and co-authors of this book, deeply explore the intimate realizations of life, death, and resurrection.
Also, the message of Professor Lee Eo-ryeong, an intellectual of the era who lived most of his life as an atheist, at the end of his life, and the story of Sister Cheon Jeong-eun, a terminally ill cancer patient who experiences miracles every day and lives as an evangelist for resurrection, also offer us great challenges.
"Resurrection" is also scheduled for nationwide release in 2020.

Into the book
The ultimate way to overcome death is not to live a long life through caution.
The answer is to face the fear of death with the hope of a new life after death, and to live while preparing to die well.
In these times when the fear of death is rampant, I think there must be a reason why God gave us the movie and book 'Resurrection'.

--- p.8

The disciples' surprising reversal is the most compelling circumstantial evidence of the resurrection.
No one risks their life for something they believe to be false.
The fact that not one but all twelve did so is undeniable evidence that they witnessed the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

--- p.34

“Cancer is a gift to me, and death is a wish.” These words made sense and touched my heart deeply.
I agree that cancer is a blessing.
Unlike other deaths, cancer tells people that they do not have much time to prepare for death.
It makes you think about what is most precious in life and helps you focus on that.

--- p.71

Little Jesus.
I froze at Professor Lee Eo-ryeong's pointed question.
The essential function of disciple training that we have been longing for.
It was a moment of confirmation of the fundamental realization of the ‘little Jesus’ that Pastor Ok Han-Heum had emphasized.
The life that a person who believes in Jesus should live.
A life of piety, a life of discipleship.
A life that walks like a little Jesus must know death, and so it has been confirmed that one must die once.

--- p.87

Sister Jeong-eun is fighting cancer at the end of death, a difficult time for everyone, but she is not struggling mentally.
Because I believe in resurrection.
The greatest driving force that enabled those facing martyrdom to overcome the fear and terror of death before their eyes was ‘faith.’
To be more precise, it was the ‘faith in resurrection.’

--- p.94

Missionary Lee In-eung said he heard a voice saying, “I gave my one and only Son, Jesus, for you.”
He said that he came to truly understand the weight of the pain and the heart of the Lord when He gave His only begotten son without reservation through the loss of his daughter.
Through my own thoughts, heart, and everything, I rediscovered God's pain and His heart for humanity.

--- p.201

What does it mean to believe in the resurrection? It means believing that God's promises have been kept, that God wants to be with me forever in a special loving relationship, and that He wants to continue to pour out that love.
So, remembering and celebrating the resurrection means being thankful for God's sacrificial love for me, which He faithfully showed until He fulfilled the covenant, and living with it as a special treasure.

Publisher's Review
Without the assurance of resurrection, we cannot approach the cross or hope for anything beyond death!

In 2006, with the publication of my first book, Letting Go, the door to ministry to the public was opened.
At that time, I expressed the meaning of ‘laying down’ as ‘a life of carrying the cross.’
We, who are weak, cannot go forward to the cross without the assurance of resurrection.
The cross and resurrection are like two wheels of a cart; one wheel alone cannot roll.
In this regard, while filming "Resurrection," I felt that God was leading me to the next level of meditation and message.
I felt invited to take another step forward in the realm of my personal contemplation.

- From the text by Lee Yong-gyu

I have attempted suicide three times due to severe depression.
Memories of the past sometimes give us strength, and sometimes leave us with difficulties.
I piled up the stones, climbed up, put the rope around my neck, and closed my eyes.
I didn't see heaven or hell, but I heard a voice like thunder that was so terrifying that I wondered, 'Could hell be scarier than this?'
'If you die like this, you'll go to hell!' Through this personal experience, I was able to recognize this life and the next life, heaven and hell, light and darkness.
