Words, Thoughts, and Decisions 1
Description
Book Introduction
At the Lord's Church's general meeting
The word that was preached passionately for three days!
Pastor Jae-cheol Lee's first book published after his retirement from the 100th Anniversary Memorial Church.
Reflections and Decisions on Life, Love, and Service
『Words, Thoughts, and Decisions 1』 is a book compiled based on the words delivered at the Lord's Church general meeting from Tuesday, July 2 to Thursday, July 4, 2019.
It contains three themes: 'life' like the seams of an armor (2 Timothy 4:6-8), 'love' that meets the eyes (John 13:34-35), and 'service' before God who sees and hears (Psalm 94:8-9).
King Ahab, who was shot in the seam with an arrow after being confident in his own life; Peter, who realized the rooster's crow only after seeing Jesus' gaze looking at him; Andrew, who made his way through the crowd to find the boy with five barley loaves and two fish; the words that were coolly honed through detailed reading and deep meditation on biblical figures, and the author's miraculous experiences with God unfold harmoniously in the confessions of his 30-year pastoral life.

Into the book
Life is not an armor, it's its seams.
From now on, let us live each day humbly seeking the Lord's help.
Life is an hourglass.
Today, let us live this day, appreciating the absolute meaning of this day, not for our own greed, but for a life that contributes to this world and to others.
Life, even in its prime, is nothing more than a breath when it passes.
Let us live by restoring the life that God breathed into us in the beginning, through His Word and prayer.
Life is a journey without a destination.
Let's not get hung up on any one day.
Let us set our sights on the only home we must go to, the Kingdom of God, and walk towards that home, step by step, day by day.
--- p.55
Don't sexually prey on your children.
Don't listen to what other parents say around you.
Folks, these are not the days when people were lined up and made to compete like in the old days.
If I put my child in a straight line, there is someone in front of me.
Putting my son on a straight line would make him feel deprived and inferior to someone in front of him for the rest of his life.
A truly wise Christian would place his children on a 360-degree circle.
I need to let my children go in the direction they want to go, not in a straight line.
You have to believe.
--- p.94-95
There are ignorant people among the people.
“You ignorant people, when will you be wise?” Here is ignorance, here is wisdom.
What is the turning point where you, the ignorant, become wise? "Think."
No matter how educated you are, no matter how intelligent you are, if you do not become a thinking Christian, you cannot live as a wise Christian before God.
Maturity in faith begins with thinking.
'Think about it, you guys.' The Hebrew verb 'bin' doesn't mean 'think about it,' just in a perfunctory or passing way.
'You guys, think about it.
Think deeply.
It's 'think about it'.
Folks, we study the Word, do QT, and live as thinking Christians.
--- p.122-123
Jesus tells them to give them something to eat, but after wandering around among ten thousand people, all they can find are five pieces of bread and two pieces of fish.
'Hey, did you come here just to eat that?' This is something that could get you scolded.
But Andrew was a man who served silently and did what he had to do without light or name.
Because of Andrew, three of the most important lines in the 2,000-year history of Christianity were drawn.
Only the Apostle John saw Andrew living this life of obedience and service in an unseen place, and recorded it only in the Gospel of John.
This is an important fact.

Publisher's Review
In Chapter 1, “On Life,” life is likened not to armor, but to the pieces of armor and the seams that connect them.
King Ahab of Israel believed that his armor would protect him, but he met a miserable death when an arrow shot randomly by an unknown soldier struck a seam in his armor.
Like Paul, who knew that his time had come to leave this world after being poured out, the author preaches that we should live a life of life by realizing that life is like an hourglass that cannot be filled once it runs out.
Chapter 2, “On Love,” points out the wrong practices of this era that cause suffering to children and spouses in the name of love.
The author, who lists eye contact, giving time, unwavering trust, and not backing down from external challenges and self-confrontation as signs of true love, presents the signs of love as described in the Bible in this age where the standards for love have been disrupted.
Chapter 3, “On Service,” says that only those who are conscious of God, who hears and sees, will not fall into self-display.
Andrew was a man who made 'three important strokes' in Christian history, but his life is not noted in the Synoptic Gospels, and the Gospel of John focuses on him.
Through deep meditation, we come to realize that this was possible because John lived his entire life serving Mary as his mother after Jesus' death on the cross.
