Into the book
Confidence? What is confidence? I think the most basic definition is "the power to put thoughts into action."
If you express it like a mathematical formula, it would be like this.
Thought + Confidence = Action
Imagine a science laboratory.
One beaker contains thoughts, the other contains confidence, and when you mix the two, a wonderful explosion called action occurs.

When you have confidence, you are more likely to accomplish things that seem difficult, scary, or impossible.
That doesn't mean you should jump off a high cliff without a plan.
There are many things you can accomplish when you have confidence rather than when you don't.
Even in the same daily routine, confidence is necessary.
Confidence is like a mental coach that helps you achieve what you want to do.
“You can’t even raise your hand in class? Why is that?
I've done it before.
Just raise your hand and shout out the answer.
“You can do it.”

Quiz

When do you need confidence?
1.
Eve is close with Hannah.
The two were stuck together like twins, but one day, Hannah teased Eve about her new hairstyle.
Eve felt betrayed, but was afraid to say anything because she was afraid it would make things awkward between her and Hannah. Eventually, she confessed honestly.
2.
Kate likes and is good at math.
So I tried to do better and did my homework diligently.
Then my teacher told me to enter a math competition.
It's like a dream to be able to compete and solve my favorite math problems.
3.
Isabella is going to audition for the musical 'Beauty and the Beast' that will be performed on the school stage.
I memorized all the lines and lyrics.
I love singing, but I've never sung in front of a large audience.
I've never taken lessons, so I'm not sure if my pronunciation will be right.
I was so nervous about going to the audition, but I decided to give it a try.
The audition result was… I was eliminated.

* Correct answer and detailed explanation
If you chose 1, 3, or both, you're correct! Eve, who confided in her friend, and Isabella, who auditioned for a musical, need confidence.
Kate #2 doesn't need much confidence to complete this task.
1.
Eve confessed her feelings honestly, even though it might upset Hannah.
Through this, they both realized that they had to be honest with each other and try not to hurt each other.
2.
Kate entered the math competition, but it wasn't too much of a challenge for her because she always liked math and was good at it.
To build confidence, you need to face bigger challenges.
3.
Isabella needed quite a bit of confidence to audition.
Although I didn't pass the audition, it was an opportunity to confirm my desire to stand on the musical stage.
I plan to prepare more and take on the challenge for the next audition.
I will also take lessons so that my voice doesn't get thin or tremble even when I'm nervous.
There are many people who fail auditions, but that doesn't mean their life is over.
What's important is that you took the risk and put it into action.

The core message of the story of the three friends is 'execution'.
It's okay to jump off a diving board, try a sport you've never tried before, or create or speak about something.
If you have a little bit of a feel for confidence, let's fill in the blanks.
“Confidence is _______________________________________.”

The lives of people of action are truly dynamic.
It can't be helped.
You can't just sit back and watch what happens to others, worrying. Why not boldly jump into the crowd, become a part of the action, and enjoy the adventure yourself? Maybe you want to join a sports club, even though you're not yet skilled? Confidence will be the driving force that will allow you to put your thoughts into action.
Want to share your thoughts with others by posting on a blog or other social media? Confidence is key.
Want to show your ordinary, authentic self? Even then, you need confidence.
Want to dye your hair or style yourself in your own way? Of course, you need confidence.

The best teen confidence building book you've ever seen

An American survey company announced that teenage girls' self-confidence has dropped by 30% compared to the previous period.
Girls, in particular, had the greatest drop in confidence at age 14, while boys' confidence was 27% higher at the same time.
This phenomenon appears to have persisted for a long time (Source: Korea Times in the US).

Why does this phenomenon occur? "Why Do I Keep Watching What Others Say?" focuses on the reasons why teenage girls' confidence is particularly low, and through in-depth scientific, psychological, and statistical analysis, it offers ways to boost it.
Lack of confidence isn't simply a matter of weak will.
It's not because I'm lazy or unenthusiastic.
This book accurately identifies the root causes of low self-confidence that exist beyond superficial reasons and offers meaningful solutions to help teenagers live confidently and authentically.

There are countless psychology and self-help books on self-confidence, but none so clearly present evidence, empathize with the reality of teenagers, and offer alternatives.
Teenagers are beings who must find the answers to life on their own through sufficient thought and experience.
Information that someone has forcefully injected into you is not easily imprinted.
This book is a new alternative to self-help books for teenagers that illuminates the mind, allowing them to discover and enjoy their own answers and strengths without being dogmatic.

A confidence-building project with world-renowned female journalists

The authors of this book, Katie Kay and Claire Shipman, are leading female journalists who have served as White House correspondents.
The two authors published a book about women's confidence called "Confidence Code", which received a great response from many readers.
Seeing the explosive response to this book, I wanted to help teenage girls develop and develop confidence earlier, so I wrote "Why Do I Always Care What People Think?", a confidence class for teenage girls.

The book immediately hit the Amazon bestseller list and reached number one in the young adult category. ABC News invited middle school girls and the author for an in-depth discussion and interview on self-confidence, and major US channels like NBC News and Time Magazine covered the book.
The publication of this book has brought the issue of teenage girl confidence to the forefront of American discourse, and the two authors have been giving lectures on this topic nonstop.

Finding the formula for boosting confidence

This book is not just a self-help book.
Based on objective data and scientific experiments, we examine the psychology and circumstances of teenagers and identify the reasons why teenage girls' self-confidence significantly declines from the time they enter middle school, offering realistic solutions.
By meticulously analyzing social prejudices and stereotypes against women, brain science and psychological perspectives, specific thoughts that hinder self-confidence, and girls' perspectives on relationships, the book reveals the true nature of confidence step by step, inviting readers into the world of confidence.
The greatest strength of this book lies in its approach to teenage readers and its clear solutions.
Rather than teaching or pressuring readers, it provides concrete examples of the various situations teenagers face, thereby gaining empathy and leading readers to reflect on themselves.

This book presents solutions to boosting confidence in a powerful tool called the "Confidence Boosting Formula," making it easy for teens to understand and put into practice.
The three confidence-boosting formulas this book discusses are 'reducing thoughts,' 'taking risks,' and 'revealing your true self.'
This formula not only corrects your thoughts, but also helps you put those thoughts into action, bringing about real changes in your life.
If you follow this formula, you will soon develop the habit of living a confident life.
The confidence this book talks about is not a pipe dream, but rather something that manifests itself in very concrete actions.
It's about not avoiding risky situations, breaking free from perfectionism, and focusing on what you're good at and what you like, rather than what others expect of you.

To help readers regain their confidence, the book includes real-life examples, stories of real girls who overcame hardships to build confidence, quizzes, and illustrations.
The entire content has been thoroughly reviewed by science experts, psychologists, and cognitive behavioral experts, ensuring that it is scientifically sound and closely related to the realities of teenagers.
This book offers clear solutions for teenage girls who lack confidence and motivation to look within themselves and live as themselves, not as a girl, not as the world dictates, but as confident and vibrant individuals.
It is full of topics that parents and teachers of teenage children can read together and seriously discuss.
