Humanities to God 2
Description
Book Introduction
Humanities speak of life,
The cross proclaims God!

“Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.”

This is a famous quote from Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus.
As he said, there are things in the world that can be expressed in words, and things that cannot be expressed in words.
The 'cross' is beyond words.
For nearly 30 years, I have explained the story of the Gospel by integrating it with the humanities, including literature, philosophy, and history, which are abundant on earth. However, the cross cannot be captured in any humanities story.
Does that mean we should remain silent like Wittgenstein? No.
I can only raise my hands in gratitude and praise.

What hero could bear all our sins, suffer, and die to offer us forgiveness? What knowledge could teach us this wondrous and mysterious doctrine of salvation through faith alone? What philosophy could explain the love of the One who existed before the beginning of time and came to earth? What art could express the aesthetics of the cross, connecting heaven and earth? Yes, it does.
The cross is the amazing power of salvation where God's love and justice meet and forgive sins.

Into the book
For example, if a woman wants to evangelize her husband, she must know well what topics he likes and finds interesting, what he fears, and what makes him angry.
If you know the land well and the philosophy well, you can spread the gospel better.
Let us diligently examine and study the word of God, and diligently examine and study the groans of the earth.

Paralysis from reality, paralysis from neighbors, paralysis from conscience… .
This is how the Nazis paralyzed people.
Among them, Eichmann was typically paralyzed and committed evil in a 'thoughtless' manner.

Arendt concludes that this absence of reflective thought can be observed even in those with advanced knowledge, and that this absence of thought is a key factor in causing or participating in various evils in modern society.

With the advent of computers and artificial intelligence, modern people have come to entrust their very thinking to computers.
Don't 'think', just 'search'.
Even if they do think, they only think quantitatively, not qualitatively.
So, only efficiency, usefulness, and practicality are emphasized.
God created us as thinking humans, but we find thinking tiresome and leave it to computers.
Moreover, modern people are unable to enjoy freedom, having made themselves slaves to all kinds of addictions and cultures.
Modern people also live a life of escape from freedom.
There is only one answer.
We must return to God.

This happened when film director Steven Spielberg was filming the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark" with George Lucas.
It is said that while filming the scene where the main character Indiana Jones falls under a truck and is dragged by a rope, Spielberg suddenly looked at Lucas and said this.

“Can you believe that you get paid to do such fun things?”
People try to escape from their daily lives and work almost every moment by asking, “What, isn’t there something fun and exciting to do?”
But as we play like this, we shed the pressures and weight of life, discover hidden abilities within ourselves, and see our own beauty.

…it is difficult to find a successful person who finds their work boring or dissatisfying.
If you can truly enjoy your work, it has a huge impact on your performance.
People who enjoy their work achieve more than those with ability or knowledge, and they achieve the best positions in their fields.
You have to enjoy it to have fun, and you have to have fun to surpass yourself.

The great spiritual scholar Henri Nouwen said this:
“You can tell whether I belong to God or to man by how sensitively I am absorbed in things.”

A life where you get extremely angry at a little criticism, get extremely depressed by a little rejection, and get extremely excited by a little praise or success.
A life that is sensitive to people's reactions is a life addicted to recognition.

The Joseon king and political power who tortured a general who had won consecutive victories, trampled on the honor of the soldiers, and then sent them back to the battlefield.
Yi Sun-sin, who loved to keep records, did not leave behind even a single word of his hatred and resentment, even when he was drunk.
Even in situations where there was ample opportunity to speak out, that terrifyingly awe-inspiring silence led to a great victory.

…The most beautiful silence in our country’s history is the silence of Yi Sun-sin.
He protected the country with the power of silence.
The most beautiful silence in human history is the silence of Jesus.
He saved us by His silence.

Satan lowers the self-esteem of the saints and makes them feel powerless.
It binds our souls to bitter memories of past failures, sins, and betrayals, and makes us feel miserable through endless comparisons with others, forcing us to live in a muddy self-esteem.

At the end of another poem by Yun Dong-ju, “Preface,” there is this passage:

Tonight too the stars are brushed by the wind.

The star that the poet saw 100 years ago is the same star that we see today.
Just as the poet saw the cross through the stars, I want to walk the path of mission like Jesus, who was happy to see the cross in the stars given to him by the Lord.

Publisher's Review
I recommend this to these people
- People interested in philosophy and history
- Those who want to know more about God who leads history
- Anyone who wants to share the gospel with people who love books

In an age where people only search and do not think, Pastor Jae-wook Han (pastor of Gangnam Vision Church) has published 『Humanities to God 2』, which calls for returning to God, the answer to everything, to cultivate the power to think for oneself.
What does it mean for Christians living in this age to interpret the voice of heaven in earthly language? This book focuses specifically on developing an eye for philosophy and history within God.
It covers how the meaning of philosophizing in Plato's Theaetetus and the meaning of Yi Sun-sin's silence in Kim Hoon's Song of the Sword are interpreted within the Bible.
He currently hosts the Far East Broadcasting Company's "Good Morning: Humanities to God" program over 200 times, reads one book a day, and sends "devotional emails" to 22,000 people.
