Into the book
Just as salmon desperately return to their birthplace to lay eggs and live out their last days, the human body also perishes but lives in the invisible spiritual world.
Isn't that right? Just as salmon, a mere fish, returns to its birthplace, so too do people go somewhere unseen.

The monk again struck the Dharma statue with his sword.
“Did you eat today?”
“Yes, monk.”
“So what are you doing now?”
“I am listening to the monk’s sermon.”
“Yes, that is a miracle.”
“Monk, where is such unreasonableness?”
“You’re being unreasonable, you rascal! How can it not be a miracle that I can eat, exert myself, and listen to the Dharma every day?”
The monk's gaze seemed as if it could pierce the ceiling of the temple.

The meaning of ‘Cheonsaeng (千生)’ in ‘Cheonsaengyeonbun (千生緣分)’ is as follows.
'Life' means from birth to death.
'A match made in heaven' means that a couple is born and dies a thousand times before meeting again.
So how can we take the bond of marriage lightly?

_ p.41

There is no such thing as hell or heaven.
My mind creates hell and my mind creates paradise.
If you are trapped in these five desires: greed, lust, fame, and longevity, it is hell, and if you are free from them, it is paradise.
Is your mind in hell or paradise right now?
_ p.100

Buddha Shakyamuni once said, “A rich person is someone who is happy in mind, and a truly rich person is someone who is healthy in body and happy in mind.”
This is an immutable truth.
If you lose your health, nothing is of any use.
_ p.128

When I curse at others, my mouth becomes garbage, and when I hit others with my fist, my hands become an axe and a hammer.
When my head is filled with bad thoughts, it becomes a mess.
How can I become the most noble being in this world like this?

_ p.152

The sun is always circling around us.
But who is it that changes the shadow? It is me.
The only person who can change the illness or the worries in my heart is myself.
As the saying goes, “If you pray diligently, you will be able to feel that happiness is gradually approaching you.”
_ p.216

Here are two sticks standing, leaning on each other.
If you take one side away, the other side will fall too.
In this way, cause and effect are intertwined.
Always tell others that you love them.
Then that love comes back to me.
_ p.296

The candle flickers with the power of the wind and the power of the air, but I thought that I could also flicker the candle with the power of prayer.
After lighting the candle, I prayed with a truly earnest heart, chanting the Bhaisajyaguru Buddha's Jeonggeun.
At that moment, the candle flickered.
From then on, I really began to believe in the power of prayer.
_ p.319

Stealing material or property from others is not the only form of theft.
A real thief is someone who deceives others to gain profit.
Aren't those who, blinded by power and fame, steal the hearts of good citizens, worse thieves? Unfortunately, this world is far too generous to such people.

Publisher's Review
If the karma of past and present lives is blocking the path
How will you get through it?

Monk Anonymous has been preaching to Buddhists for three years on the topic “Do you know?” on BTN Buddhist TV, a representative media outlet for Korean Buddhism, about the causes of physical and mental illnesses suffered by modern people.
In this place, he opened up the clogged minds of modern people, full of worries, with deep and reflective sermons.
This book is a collection of words from those sermons that Buddhists should engrave in their hearts.

The monk lost both his parents when he was in his twenties.
As the head of a young family, he had to raise his younger siblings and endured difficult financial hardships, but through all the hardships, he raised his siblings well.
As time passed and I looked back, I realized that not being able to properly care for my deceased mother's grave became a lifelong regret and burden.
He became a monk at a late age, wanting to scatter his mother's ashes in the clear river and live a life of practice in a clean world without money, possessions, or desires.

After that, he built a hut temple that could only block the wind at the foot of Geumjeongsan Mountain in Busan, a place with deep mountains and clear waters, and devoted himself to practicing to heal those who, like him, suffered from mental and physical illnesses due to karma. He ended up creating a famous temple called Mumyeongsa Temple as a place of practice.
Having lived as a practitioner from early morning until late at night for over 20 years, I have come to realize that human life is not determined by one's own will, but rather by the karma one has created in the past and present lives, and that one's future life, whether happy or unhappy, is determined by it.

Delusion creates illness, and greed increases illness.
Foolishness is the cause of creating karmic vessels.

There are two diseases in humans.
One is a disease of the mind and the other is a disease of the body.
However, people tend to view mental illness and physical illness separately.
They do not know that if they cannot control their mind, it will spread to their physical body.

Everyone, knowingly or unknowingly, creates karma from the past to the present.
And when those karmas meet a certain connection, they will inevitably be revealed to the world.
This is an irresistible fact.
Therefore, just as no one pulls the cart of happiness for you, you must erase the karma you have created yourself, and managing that connection well is the secret to living a happy life in the future.

Modern people are deeply immersed in five desires: greed, greed for money, greed for sex, greed for fame, and greed for longevity.
Anyone can become a Buddha and attain happiness of mind if they can refrain from just one of these, but people do not know this and fall into a deep abyss, creating a vessel for their own karma.
Future success requires emptying the vessel of karma filled with desires and pleasures.

In this way, people are suppressing the happiness they deserve because of past worries and guilt.
The useless worries and concerns that the mind creates are making the illness worse.
The moment you suppress and bind yourself, it becomes a disease of the mind and leads to a disease of the body.
The monk accurately identifies the cause of mental illness and suggests how to live happily.
This book will serve as a guide for modern people, who are only obsessed with desire, on how to live a happy life.
