This is Africa
Description
Book Introduction
Travel coordinator for Netflix's "Three Meals a Day in Kenya" and KBS's "Walk Around the World"
Author Da-ae Park, CEO of 'This Is Africa', a travel agency with 12 years of experience, says:
Africa, a travel destination you must leave for now before others find out about it!
Do you still think of Africa as a backward and dangerous continent? Today's Africa presents a stark contrast to that stereotypical image.
A place where world-famous celebrities and tycoons come for vacation, build second homes, and where wineries and art scenes thrive.
From a day at a hotel where you wake up to giraffes, to a luxurious train ride across the savannah, to a winery tour that will satisfy your delicate palate – this book reveals the 'real Africa' we never knew existed.
Park Da-ae, a travel coordinator who worked on Netflix's "Three Meals a Day in Kenya" and KBS's "Walk Around the World," and the CEO of "This Is Africa," a travel agency with 12 years of experience.
His passion, which began with his first trip at the age of twenty-one, has been condensed into a record of his travels throughout Africa.
It is neither a simple travel essay nor a guidebook simply compiling information.
As you follow this book, written from the perspective of a traveler who loved Africa, you will discover a whole new world beyond the boundaries of the continent we know.

Into the book
"This Is Africa!"
'This is Africa' is a common phrase heard across the African continent.
It is used in both good and bad times.
When I was amazed by the wonders of Africa while watching tens of thousands of wildebeests running across the savannah grasslands at sunset, I wrote, "Wow... this is Africa!" When I called the server over because my order hadn't arrived even after an hour and asked, "When will my menu be ready?" and he replied, "Oh! It'll be ready soon," and only then sauntered into the kitchen to put the menu in, I wrote, "Ah... this is Africa..."
At the time, Africa was often imprinted with images of famine, war, and disease, but we believed we could move beyond those negative perceptions and convey the beauty and fascinating wonders of Africa.
--- p.66
In horror movies, there are kids who run away and end up tripping over rocks or something.
Oh, seriously, why are you like that? You're not even an idiot.
I always found that scene frustrating, but no, I never thought that idiot would be me.
Three elephants were chasing him from behind, but he stupidly tripped over a tree and fell down.
What a bone-chilling horror!
--- p.171
When I look at a rhinoceros, I feel like I'm traveling back in time to the beginning of time.
It is probably the closest thing to a dinosaur among the remaining creatures.
When I face that huge, gentle snort, time seems to stand still.
You can feel the thick leather breathing calmly.
They are also judging whether I am safe.
And soon, with its small, round eyes blinking, it begins to calmly chew on a branch.
It's a thrilling moment.
It feels like they are recognized as fellow humans living together on Earth.
Only then can we become objects that can pass by naturally to them, like trees, like water, or like birds.
--- p.108
We are now, perhaps, on an 'adventure'.
I just wonder what's out there that's not yet well known.
We were leaving for the 'unknown world' with only curiosity among countless hearts.
It is difficult to predict, let alone imagine.
There were still places where adventure was possible! It was a time when I could waste a day arguing in the blazing sun in a completely unknown place without any real problems! My anxiety soon gave way to excitement.
good night.
It's so wonderful! Mozambique, a place where you just have to discover more!
--- p.85
It is a tremendous thing to see this living mystery, which allows one to contemplate life at a glance just by observing it.
And Salas is located in a place that makes that incredible experience highly likely.
In Salas, you can see rare scenes that National Geographic film crews wait for months to capture while eating or stretching.

Publisher's Review
Wake up to a morning of giraffe-like encounters at the Giraffe Manor Hotel
Robosrail, a luxurious train ride through Savannah
A winery tour to satisfy your taste buds
This book completely turns the Africa we know upside down.
A love for Africa that began with my first trip at the age of twenty-one, after receiving a refund on my tuition.
Even after working, I went back there again and eventually founded 'This Is Africa', a travel agency specializing in Africa.
However, in 2020, when travel agencies were growing rapidly, the coronavirus pandemic swept the world.
All reservations were canceled and a dark age of travel began with no end in sight.
However, the author felt that this was an opportunity and went to find high-end accommodations that he had not experienced before.
Driven by a sense of responsibility to provide customers with the most perfect experience, we traveled to every corner of Africa with sincerity and verified it ourselves.
This book is the author's most brilliant and honest confession, containing his struggles to survive in the fascinating world of 'Africa' and his concerns as a professional.
A world beyond travel destinations, a continent that shatters prejudices.
This book is the only guide that will transform the unknown from fear to confidence.
The answer to the perfect luxury vacation just for you is right here.
