Publisher's Review
The moment I found the small leaf,
An amazing world of imagination unfolds before your eyes

Have you ever noticed a fallen leaf dangling from a tree branch on a windy day, only to fall to the ground with a thud? Have you ever gathered fallen leaves with friends on a day when green leaves were adorned with red? We've all probably picked up fallen leaves with our teachers or parents, dried them thoroughly, and then stuffed them between our favorite books.
What did you do the day you picked up a little leaf? The girl in "Finding a Leaf" begins to have fun imagining things with the fallen leaves in the forest.
Leaves make hats on cold days, parachutes to help you find more leaves, and even make spooky-eyed Halloween masks.
You can become a sailboat and travel across the sea, or you can make a hammock and listen to the sound of the wind blowing.
Anyone can create their own world by simply picking up leaves.
The tiny leaves that are always by our side, but that we don't notice until we stop and look, lead us into a vast world of imagination we have yet to visit.

An adventure that brightens an ordinary day

Let's follow the adventures of a girl who brightens an ordinary day with joy. She transforms elm leaves into a sailboat and sails across the vast ocean, transforms maple leaves into a hammock, basks in the gentle breeze, and even draws maple leaves into a hot air balloon and floats high above the trees.
Just like the girl, her friends also create new worlds with their imaginations, spend their days there, and enjoy adventures.
Children are collectors who observe our daily lives with curious eyes that adults easily overlook, not missing even a single little thing.
They are adventurers who share their hearts and comfort with the precious gifts they receive from nature, and who walk briskly with courage instead of fear in their hearts.
Children grow up somewhere in their daily lives, wearing various colors and changing seasons.
Travel to the sea, climb high and rugged mountains, and challenge yourself with new things, growing step by step.
You can experience the brilliant adventures of children's daily lives.

A collage-style landscape painting that captures the beauty of nature changing its clothes with the seasons.

Amy Sikuro, writer and illustrator, is an accomplished artist who uses watercolors, ink, and charcoal pencil to create new images.
In "Finding Leaves," we gather the leaves we've always seen around us as we grew up, and breathe life into the story as well as the illustrations.
After preserving the leaves for a long time using glycerin, I stuck them onto white drawing paper and used watercolors, ink, and charcoal pencils to draw beautiful nature scenes.
Breaking free from the limited framework of art, it creates a new, free space for children to understand various artistic expressions and develop their aesthetic sense through the experience of material properties.
Additionally, it is composed of uniquely-crafted drawings and emotional, lingering texts, helping to develop artistic and literary sensibilities.
The front and back covers feature leaves that can only be seen in autumn, stimulating children's curiosity.
At the very end of the book, there are tips on how to preserve leaves for a long time and various ways to play with them, so anyone can create their own world by just collecting leaves.
