Into the book
Dol-i's white dog pooped.
It's in the corner under the alley wall.
Whitey is a small puppy, so it's puppy poop.
A light spring rain fell.
A blue dandelion sprout has sprouted in front of the dog poop.

"What are you?" asked Puppy Poop.

'I am a dandelion that blooms pretty flowers.'

'How beautiful are you? As beautiful as the stars in the sky?'

'Yes, it's shining brightly.'

'How do you make such pretty flowers bloom?'

'It's because God sends rain and warms the sun.'

'Yeah......
I see.....'

The dog poop sighed in envy of the dandelion.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'I may be more ugly and dirty than you...'

As the lump of dirt began to talk, the puppy stopped crying and listened.

'I did something very bad.
Last summer, there was no rain and the drought was very severe.
At that time, I tried to save the baby pepper I was raising and let it die.'
'Oh my! How pitiful.'
'So, I was punished like this and fell off while being carried on a cart.
I'm finished now.'

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But there is one thing that is absolutely necessary.
....
You have to be the fertilizer.
.....
You have to melt your entire body and come into my body.
Only then can beautiful flowers bloom like stars.
....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It rained for three days.
The dog poop was completely broken into small pieces by the rain.
It broke and seeped into the ground, gathering at the roots of dandelions.
It climbed up the stem and formed flower buds.

Publisher's Review
Our beautiful picture book, "Dog Poop," which brought a little dandelion to everyone's heart.

One day, writer Kwon Jeong-saeng saw dog poop under a stone wall melting and seeping into the ground after being hit by rain.
A few days later, surprisingly, a cute dandelion flower bloomed right where the dog poop had seeped and melted.
Writer Kwon Jeong-saeng was deeply moved by the fact that, in that moment, "Even something as insignificant as dog poop, something that is looked down upon by others, melts one's entire being and gives life to it!" and shed tears.
The author stayed up for several nights writing the story of Puppy Poop, and the fairy tale 'Puppy Poop' written this way was first published in 1969 when it won the first Christian Children's Literature Award selected by the monthly Christian Education magazine.

Painter Jeong Seung-gak was deeply moved by the story of 'Dog Poop' and decided to express the precious meaning contained in 'Dog Poop' in a picture book.
Author Kwon Jeong-saeng refined the text to fit the picture book, and author Jeong Seung-gak did not hesitate to become dog poop himself, saying, “You have to become dog poop to draw dog poop.”
The author repeatedly visited the stone wall where he first saw dog poop to find inspiration, and even followed the dog around for four months to observe it pooping.
After that, he spent two months making a model of the dog poop with clay and drawing a rough sketch. After looking at it for a long time, he finally felt like the dog poop was alive and moving in his mind, and only then did he pick up a brush and paint.
I even got rained on myself to draw dog poop in the rain.
In this way, the author poured his heart into portraying 'dog poop' in beautiful pictures, and the picture book 'dog poop' was born in 1996.
The picture book 『Dog Poop』, with its beautiful text and illustrations, resonates deeply and touches the hearts of everyone, from children to adults.
