Small but mighty! The Marshmallow Struggle

Iparapanyamunyamu, it all started with this one word.
The marshmallows, who were once leisurely, gather together and make a rather solemn resolution.
With the intention of driving out the furry ones and restoring peace to the village, the small bodies gather together and form battle lines.
Just the thought of being eaten in cocoa or roasted in a fire is dizzying.

The picture book unfolds at a fast pace, following the burning emotions of the heart.
The story is heightened by sequentially capturing the character's movements through delicate cut divisions, and the humorous results are shown through the unfolded pages that follow, fully displaying the cute character's charm.
The marshmallows compete in three rounds, and the picture book screen goes through three twists and turns, flowing as if it were an animation.

Big but timid! The story of a furry ordeal

While everyone is looking at the fluffy one with one eye, there is Marshmallow who is thinking of something else.
When the third match starts to look like it's going to be a disaster, he crosses the forest alone to find out what the 'real horse' of the furry is.
That's why the scene where a very, very small marshmallow meets a very, very big fluffy thing is so awesome.
It is a scene that shows the visual 'difference' of how different they are, and at the same time, it is the first turning point where the misunderstanding is resolved.
So that's what Iparapanyamunyamu meant! After the tumultuous incident, hardened hearts softened and the village became peaceful again.
The 'real words' that the furry wanted to say are now spread throughout the village like a cheerful horseplay and are passed down from mouth to mouth.


Author Lee Ji-eun has lovingly depicted the situations in which prejudices and misunderstandings arise and are resolved with her uniquely balanced perspective.
Anyone can misunderstand or be misunderstood.
That could happen.
But if you take a moment to consider whether that might be a misunderstanding, it could be the first step toward understanding each other.

There is plenty of soft grass and fresh fruit ready to be picked whenever you are hungry.
Marshmallows are coming out of mushroom-shaped houses that look like they belong to fairies.
The setting of this picture book is a village with gently rolling green hills.
The warm happiness of a fairytale-like space envelops the entire book, and the soft white marshmallows and fluffy, squirming dolls deliver a heart-fluttering cuteness.
Another fun aspect of reading this picture book is seeing the different expressions and movements of each character, and adding dialogue to them.
The more I look at it, the more I realize that this picture book is full of tiny details.
