Author Cider, who published her first picture book, “Garaetteok,” has now published her second picture book, “Sweet Potato,” which is based on food.
This is an exciting story that came to mind as I observed the sweet potatoes harvested in the field with my children and the shapes of the potatoes came to mind.

But since sweet potatoes are not people, they may not feel pain when we cut them with a knife and eat them with our mouths.
Our elders believed that even rocks and tender grasses had hearts.
Because I didn't even throw away hot water carelessly, I was careful not to count the invisible bugs living somewhere in the yard.

I think the author of this picture book wanted to tell the readers that even if someone looks different from them in some way, or even if they seem a little strange to ordinary people, they each have their own hidden light that shines through.
