Park Chung-hee's leadership
Description
Book Introduction
Innovative leader Park Chung-hee
The secret to success learned through his life!

In South Korea, where young people are more frustrated than ever, political and intergenerational communication is difficult, and the gap between rich and poor is widening, a book that summons former President Park Chung-hee has arrived.
“Why Park Chung-hee again?” the author answers this question.
President Park Chung-hee, who dreamed more than anyone else, possessed a spirit of challenge that never gave up, and achieved ceaseless innovation, is the person who demonstrated the leadership this era needs.

The miracle of the Republic of Korea achieved during the Park Chung-hee administration did not happen overnight.
He found reasons why it could be done rather than reasons why it couldn't be done, pushed forward with strong momentum, and finally achieved it.
Yet, he moved people with small and trivial things, and sincerely consoled them when they were embarrassed and perplexed.
This is Park Chung-hee style leadership.
Let's look back on President Park Chung-hee's passionate life, creative management, indomitable spirit of challenge, and ceaseless innovation, all he dreamed and aspired for, in this one book.
So, I hope that we too, like Park Chung-hee, will gain the courage to dream, think, and challenge ourselves, and that we will all succeed in our lives.

This book consists of five chapters in total.
First, in the first chapter, we look at the human figure of Park Chung-hee from birth through childhood and school days, and also see his side as a leader who was different from the beginning.
The second chapter contains various episodes of celebrities who did not lose their dreams and ultimately succeeded despite trials and adversities, including an episode in which the young Park Chung-hee overcame his ordeal by turning it into a turning point.
In the third chapter, you will learn the law of positive speaking habits that bring success and the Park Chung-hee-style problem-solving method that focuses on solving problems rather than on the problem itself.
The fourth is how to achieve results with minimal effort, and we will look at the know-how of President Park Chung-hee, who always achieved results once he started a task.
Finally, in the fifth chapter, we explore specific ways to realize our dreams so that our lives can become a beacon of hope for others.

Into the book
▷ As soon as he returned to Korea, he established a ranch in Daegwallyeong and built a national sheep breeding farm in the area around Biraebong Peak in Jirisan, Unbong, Jeollabuk-do.
This was possible thanks to the introduction of sheep and technical support provided by the Australian government's aid program, known as the 'Colombo Project'.
A few years later, the sight of tens of thousands of sheep grazing on the vast 2 million pyeong Unbong Livestock Farm was a spectacular sight.

When you first start anything, you are bound to encounter opposition from the opposition.
When Park Chung-hee planned the livestock industry, he also had to hear opposition from many livestock experts who argued that Korean soil was not suitable for livestock farming.
But Park Chung-hee didn't care about their stereotypes.
Rather, he pushed even harder.

▷ It was when construction of the Gyeongbu Expressway was in full swing.
Park Chung-hee visited the construction site without notice.
I had a brief one-on-one meeting with Chung Ju-young, the president of Hyundai Engineering & Construction.
But during the conversation, Chung Ju-young was nodding off and snoring.
Even if one was responsible for a very important project, it was a great disrespect to bow down in front of the president.
Chung Ju-young bowed his head repeatedly with a embarrassed expression, saying, “Your Majesty, I am truly sorry.”
But Park Chung-hee never raised his voice over such trivial matters.
He held Chung Ju-young's hand and encouraged him, saying, "President Chung, I feel bad for asking a tired person to speak."

This is Park Chung-hee's leadership.
He is impressed by small and trivial things.
When the other person is embarrassed and perplexed, sincerely comfort them.
Chung Ju-young, who had been frozen in place by Park Chung-hee's warm encouragement, was deeply moved.
As expected, Park Chung-hee was a great leader.
The reason the people follow him is because of this sincerity.

But Park Chung-hee thought differently.
He decided that it was necessary to expand social overhead capital and reorganize the industrial structure to focus on export-oriented industries.
No matter how many products were produced, if logistics were blocked to the point that it took a full day to get from Seoul to Busan, industrial revitalization would be a long way off.

He pushed ahead with the highway construction plan despite strong opposition from the opposition party and some media outlets.
And finally, on July 7, 1970, after two and a half years of construction, the first line, a 428km section between Seoul and Busan, was completed.
At the end of 1966, the paving rate of national and local roads was 5.6% and the number of registered cars was only 50,000.
A plan that seemed only possible in dreams has become a reality.

Park Chung-hee acted according to his beliefs.
In other words, it means that you move according to your heart, not your head.
A person who acts according to his heart never hesitates and wastes time.
Take action immediately.
Of course, even if there are many trials and tribulations along the way, they do not give up easily and find a way to make it work.
And finally, make your vision a reality.
As soon as an idea comes to mind, try it until it works, that is the Park Chung-hee style.

As the nation's CEO, Park Chung-hee demonstrated goal-oriented leadership.
One of his strengths is goal setting.
He had an outstanding ability to simplify any difficult task by succinctly summarizing things and situations into three or four points.
In fact, considering only the economic situation and technology at the time, the construction of the Gyeongbu Expressway and the establishment of POSCO were impossible.
But despite numerous trials and tribulations, he achieved his goal.
All of Park Chung-hee's achievements were followed by setting new goals (dreams), detailed plans to achieve those goals, and then execution.
So he used charts and briefings a lot, and he kept a chart of his goals in his office and used it.
Even goals that seem impossible can become achievable with a detailed plan.
So, the plan becomes the driving force that ultimately produces results and answers.
