Publisher's Review
The second revised and expanded edition of 'Birds of Korea,' an outdoor color guide that fits in one hand and allows you to see the characteristics of birds at a glance, has been published.

The project to publish an illustrated guide, which began with the hopes of the late Koo Bon-moo, founder and first chairman of the LG Evergreen Foundation, to raise awareness of the protection of Korea's natural environment and ecosystem, was carried out with the publication of the first edition of "Birds of Korea" in 2000 and "Freshwater Fish of Korea" in 2019. This book, too, has been published as the second revised and expanded edition of "Birds of Korea" 20 years later, carrying on the spirit.

This book, Korea's first illustrated bird guide and a new milestone in the history of Korean birdwatching, encompasses not only rare species from around the world but also birds from both North and South Korea, including 573 species in 24 orders and 84 families, the largest number of species among existing Korean bird guides.

The second revised and expanded edition contains more systematic and comprehensive information by adding 32 species that were newly discovered in Korea after the publication of the first revised and expanded edition in 2014 and that were reported to academic societies or have clear evidence. It also incorporates the latest academic achievements.
In particular, new information on the scientific names of birds, birdwatching etiquette, various behaviors, and nests has been included to provide readers with more diverse information.

In addition, by applying the same illustration techniques of the first edition and the first revised and expanded edition, we have included as many diverse and detailed pictures as possible for each species, including males, females, mothers, young birds, summer plumage, and winter plumage. In addition, with a higher resolution, even the individual feathers are vivid and colored in exquisite detail, making it easy for not only experts but also beginners to birdwatching to identify birds outdoors.

Professor Emeritus Lee Woo-shin of Seoul National University, the author's representative, said, "I hope that as the number of people who love birds increases and those who love and protect nature increases, we and our descendants will be able to live healthy and happy lives in the rich and beautiful nature where birds sing."

Meanwhile, the LG Evergreen Foundation plans to supply this book at the same price as 20 years ago, 30,000 won, in the hope that more people will love birds and take an interest in protecting the natural environment and ecosystem.

The second revised and expanded edition of 'Birds of Korea' is available for purchase at major bookstores nationwide, and all proceeds will be used to expand birdwatching activities and support bird conservation projects.
