Our Cultural Heritage Picture Book Sparkling
Description
Book Introduction
From Neolithic rock carvings to late Joseon folk paintings Meet 462 of our relics in pictures! From the petroglyphs of Bangudae in Daegok-ri, Ulju, dating back to the Neolithic Age, to the pagodas, stone lanterns, gold crowns, and pottery of the Three Kingdoms period, to the celadon of the Goryeo Dynasty, the buncheong ware and white porcelain of the Joseon Dynasty, and even to portraits, ornaments, and architectural structures, a total of 462 Korean relics are depicted in the form of paintings. To focus on the beauty of the cultural heritage itself, descriptions are kept to a minimum and images are the main characters. Also, rather than listing them chronologically, I've categorized them into four areas based on content. The first part covered Korea's unique aesthetic and sentiment represented by ceramics, while the second part covered ancient murals, paintings by artists, old maps, and the "Uigwe" (royal protocols). The third part focuses on the impression of Buddha statues and depicts groups of temples and pagodas. In the final installment, we explore the diversity of our cultural heritage, from military and scientific to decorative and architectural. |

Publisher's Review
Our sparkling cultural heritage
Our cultural heritage is unique and truly beautiful.
And it contains thousands of years of our history.
Even though it may seem ordinary at first, the more you look at it, the more fascinating it becomes, and the more you know about it, the more you will become fascinated by it.
The best way to experience cultural heritage is to go there and see it in person.
Relics seen as images in textbooks or catalogs tend to feel stiff.
So I wanted to capture our cultural heritage with a warm and emotional gaze.
In order to get one step closer to our cultural heritage, we attempted to present it in the form of a collection of paintings rather than a narrative, and we tried to make it possible to grasp one topic at a glance.
When several people are together in one picture, their individual differences and specialness seem to stand out.
