Book Introduction
Since its first publication in 2004, the long-running bestseller, "Mail from Post Office Box 110," has gone through 110 printings and has been translated and published in many countries, receiving the love of countless readers.
For some, it is a memory, for others, it is a present-day story. This story, which has been with us for a long time, has been republished in a completely revised edition after the author's meticulous revision.
Radio writer Gong Jin-sol's life motto is 'don't be obsessed'.
When he feels upset, he has a small hobby of sharpening a few pencils, and tries to live without great expectations of the world or love. However, when the program is reorganized and he starts working with the new PD Lee Gun, his life goals begin to go awry.
I just wanted to live my life in peace.
I can't just ignore the fact that it seems to gently knock on the fence of truth and call me out every time.
A warm story about people in their early to mid-30s who are feeling a bit lonely and have quietly closed off their hearts, but who nevertheless decide to 'try to love again.'
As you read between the lines about each other's youth, workplace, past emotions, and the love that has returned, you will find yourself regaining analog sensibilities that you had forgotten about.

Into the book
I put the sharpened pencil back in my pencil case and took out a new one to start sharpening it.
It was her old habit to sharpen a few pencils whenever she felt uneasy or upset about something.
I enjoyed looking at the fine grain of wood coming out of the tip of the knife, and I also enjoyed the feeling of grinding the black graphite into square pieces.
I also liked the faint smell of wood that wafted from sharpening a pencil, which was not at all different from the smell I had as a child even as time passed.
--- p.10
I left Kyobo Bookstore, headed towards Insa-dong, and started walking down Jongno Street.
The ginkgo leaves on the roadside trees were turning yellow.
A familiar street for over 10 years.
How many times had Jinsol walked this road from Gwanghwamun to Dongdaemun since leaving her hometown and coming to Seoul at the age of twenty?
It was a road I took because I wasn't attached to Seoul and wanted to walk until I became attached to it.
--- p.28
Gun suddenly said.
“But, you know.”
Jinsol looked at him and waited quietly for his next words.
“How was my poem?”
Jinsol was dazed for a moment, then burst out laughing.
Geondo was also smiling.
For some reason, her mood suddenly brightened.
“Speak nicely, speak honestly?”
“Tell me both versions.”
--- p.44
“I like the word terminal.
“A few years ago, I lived near the bus terminal. If anyone asked me, I would say, ‘I live at the 157 bus terminal.’”
"The final destination? Let's go all the way to the dead end, something like that?"
“No, more than that… I just feel at ease.
“It’s a feeling of peace of mind that even if I fall asleep on the last bus, I can still get home safely without worrying about missing my stop.”
--- p.106
“You, foul.”
His words became sharp fragments and pierced her painfully.
"sorry.
“If you just pretended to know….”
“No, there’s nothing to apologize for.
“Actually,” Gun said gently, shaking his head.
“…I guess I was secretly hoping you would find out.
These days, I feel like my storage is full, so I sometimes think that if it were possible for people to do that, they would like to format their devices at least once.
“So that I can breathe with my chest clear and open.”
--- p.170
“Do you know what your bad point is?”
“…What is it?”
“Not giving your heart to people.
“Building a strong fence around you and not showing your true feelings.”
--- p.208
Jinsol looked down at his sleeping figure.
He reached out and brushed his fingers through the hair covering his forehead.
Is this a dream or not?
Am I awake or is this an extension of sleep… .
Just 5 minutes.
No, just 10 minutes, I have to watch this guy sleep and then go to the front room.
A man who says he hates me twelve times a day.
The faint crackling of the television was interspersed with the chirping of crickets and other insects in the backyard, coming from outside the window.
The night wind blowing down the mountain and rattling against the window.
It was a night when a small insect whispered incessantly somewhere in her heart.
--- p.234
“Why don’t you tell me about yourself?”
Jinsol slowly turned around to look at the question coming from across the room.
Their eyes met.
“…Because I never asked.”
“I’m asking now.”
Jinsol watched with a twinkle in her eye as the warm autumn sunlight lingered on his shoulder and a soft smile passed his lips.
It was a sunlight that seemed within reach.
--- p.240
They sat on the steps of the pavilion and rested.
The pavilion of Daejeon across the street was visible from where they were sitting.
Somehow, at that moment, Jinsol felt as if something like this had happened somewhere before.
Could this be deja vu?
At first, it was hard to believe in reincarnation, but a strange, familiar feeling that I had seen before gave me goosebumps.
“I think that’s why my mind becomes calm when I come to a place like this.
If I think about the hardships I've had in life, the disappointments I've felt from not being able to achieve things... maybe there's a next life.
I'll do better in my next life.
It could be mine… It’s such a comfort to me.”
--- p.260
“I will love you well.
Instead of being sad because I love you, or feeling like I'm going to die because I love you... I'm going to have a happy love.
“It’s the kind of love that looks only at me from the beginning.”
--- p.363
“If loving me is really hard… don’t love me.
“Because I know I couldn’t be of any comfort to you.”
“Just don’t run away from my life.”
--- p.418
“You are right.
I'm not that great... I don't delude myself into thinking I can save a woman from all her loneliness.
Even when I'm by your side, you might feel lonely and depressed.
Because love isn't everything in life.
however…."
“I thought of you all the time.
“I wanted to run out and go see you… Come to your senses, I was holding back…”
“Suddenly you were standing at the door.
At times like that, I go crazy.
“Love is all the same.”
