Publisher's Review
This book is an introductory text for learners new to life sciences, and comprehensively covers the interconnectedness of five core topics in life sciences: structure and function, information, energy and matter, interactions, and evolution.
We aim to effectively convey a vast body of biological knowledge through the integration of excellent content and visual materials, and a flexible format.

The entire structure is designed with a systematic learning flow in mind.
After introducing five key topics in Chapter 1, these topics are repeatedly highlighted in each subsequent chapter, allowing learners to naturally learn the connections between concepts.
For example, after exploring the relationship between 'structure and function' through the example of the red panda wrapping its bushy tail around its body to maintain body temperature, the learning naturally leads to the concept of evolution by covering the transmission of information, the flow of energy and matter, interactions between organisms, and the evolution of fur for camouflage.

The book contains various elements as its main learning tool.
It is structured so that concepts learned in textbooks can be applied to the real world through 'connections', and the introduction of each section presents the key concepts of the section in concise sentences to provide a direction for learning.
Additionally, by utilizing 'data visualization', the text and figures are effectively linked, helping to make complex concepts easier to understand.
'Question Mark Questions' are included to help learners check their own understanding, and 'Try It Out' activities are also provided to encourage various interpretations and discussions based on the pictures presented in the text.

The book's flexible structure allows instructors to reorder the chapters according to their course plans, and it is designed to be effectively utilized in a variety of class formats and educational environments.
