Understanding Economics
Description
Book Introduction
"Understanding Economics" is a course that teaches basic economic theories and real-world examples that can be explained using these theories.
It is broadly divided into two parts. In the first half, from Chapters 1 to 8, you will learn about economic phenomena related to microeconomics, and in the second half, from Chapters 9 to 15, you will learn about economic statistics related to macroeconomics.
Microeconomics, which you study in the first half, focuses on how consumers and producers make decisions, how these individual decisions are coordinated through the market, and what positive or negative effects the results have on society.
Macroeconomics, which we study in the latter part, focuses on how the decisions of individual economic entities lead to outcomes in larger economic units such as the nation, and how these outcomes affect the nation's overall production, employment, and prices.

Each chapter in this textbook consists of an outline, text, and reading materials.
The outline includes a learning outline that summarizes the main content of each chapter, learning objectives that outline what you should know after studying each chapter, and key terms that you need to understand in each chapter.
In the text, graphs are used instead of complex formulas so that even non-economics majors can understand it.
A thorough understanding of the supply and demand models in Chapters 2 and 3 is important for studying the subsequent content.
The reading material at the end of each chapter aims to aid understanding by providing examples of how economic theory explains real-world economic problems in the microeconomics section and by providing methods for verifying relevant economic statistics and questions for readers to ponder on for themselves in the macroeconomics section.
