Theory and Practice of Counseling Psychology
Description
Book Introduction
This book is divided into four parts.
Part 1 is a general overview of counseling and contains much that has been revised or added in the 4th edition.
Looking at the revised content, the counseling agency section in Chapter 1 was deleted and the content on the effects of counseling was added.
In Chapter 2, the counselor training course was deleted and counseling ethics and the process of becoming a counselor were added. In Chapter 3, a client evaluation report using psychological testing was added to the section on understanding and evaluating clients, making it more specific so that it can be understood how to understand and evaluate clients.
In Chapter 4, Counseling Relationship, we added content on how to view the counseling relationship in terms of theory and process.
Part 2 introduces the major theories that are important in counseling. Here, the content of each counseling theory has been revised to ensure a unified presentation.
In addition, in order to present counseling cases that clearly demonstrate the characteristics of each counseling theory, we found cases of representative counselors for each counseling theory and included their contents.
By presenting the representative counselors' cases for each theory in the order of client understanding, counseling case content, and summary, we aimed to help readers understand the specific content of counseling by comparing theories and how counseling is conducted.
Part 3 is the practical part of counseling, and in this 4th edition, chapters 12 and 13 have been revised.
In Chapter 12, the intake interview stage was added, and the characteristics of each consultation stage and what to do at that time were added.
Chapter 13 does not list counseling techniques, but organizes them into techniques focused on relationship building, counselor involvement, exploration, and insight.
