Law and Life of Youth
Description
Book Introduction
Legal education in our country's secondary education curriculum contains a lot of abstract legal knowledge, which does not interest young people.
Recognizing these issues, the content was structured to connect various materials encountered in reality with relevant laws, enabling readers to easily understand and utilize the law.
This new edition of 『Law and Life of Youth』, which has been much loved by young readers for over 20 years, has been reorganized to cover a wide range of fields, including not only the existing six areas of state power and basic human rights, family, school, economic life, labor relations, and crime and punishment, but also legal issues arising from the development of cutting-edge science and technology such as AI, and even animal rights and climate change, in response to the recent rapid development of cutting-edge science and technology such as artificial intelligence and big data, and rapid social and cultural changes.

Publisher's Review
Considering that legal education opportunities are not properly provided in Korea's middle and high school curriculum, rather than focusing on conveying abstract legal knowledge, we have structured the content to foster the ability to understand and utilize the law by linking various materials encountered in real life with relevant laws.
In particular, in addition to the six basic areas, it covers a wide range of fields, including artificial intelligence, big data, social media, the environment, health, and animal rights, in line with rapidly changing social changes, including child abuse and sexual crimes, legal issues arising from the development of cutting-edge science and technology such as AI, and even animal rights and climate change.
Thus, we were able to think about what values are important for our society to develop, what is the right way to protect them, and what kind of society our society should be.
Furthermore, based on such thinking, we have fostered the capacity of democratic citizens to actively participate in the legislative and judicial systems.
To this end, we've created a "Thought Sharing" section at the end of each chapter to encourage deeper reflection on the social issues related to each chapter's topic. We've also included instructions in the appendix on how to find laws and precedents, to help young people make their own legal judgments about social issues.
I hope that through this book, young people will vividly experience how closely their daily lives are intertwined with the law and acquire legal thinking. I also hope that they will actively practice democratic participation and become mature leaders who lead the growth of our society.
