The world is suffering from the recent war in Ukraine and the coronavirus outbreak.
It can truly be said to be a threat to humanity.
Unprecedented conflicts and social problems are erupting, including energy wars over oil and natural gas, food crises caused by grain shortages, and increasingly extreme weather events.
The author, who has long pondered energy issues in light of these human-caused problems, traces back to the era of human civilization from an energy perspective and illuminates the path humanity will take in the future.

Publisher's Review
“Most things in the world can be easily organized and understood if we think of them from an energy perspective.” This book compares the attempt to view things from an energy perspective to a journey.
The author says that the word "travel" has various resonances and depths, and that the one-directional flow from the past to the present and toward the future is in fact the essence of the energy we encounter every day, and that the question of who I am can sometimes be answered by thinking about what energy is.

In this text, travel is broadly divided into three themes: quantity, knowledge, and mind, and the relationship between energy and humanity is examined.

In Part 1, a journey to discover the history of sheep, we examine human history from the perspective of energy and explore the process of establishing modern civilization and its challenges.
In this process, we consider the close relationship between humanity and energy and look specifically at five major revolutions that the author considers to be energy revolutions.

Part 2, A Journey in Search of Knowledge, explains in detail what energy is and what laws it follows, following the footsteps of scientists such as Galileo and Einstein.
It also addresses the possibilities and limitations of technological innovation revealed by scientific knowledge.

In Part 3, a journey to find the heart, we examine religion, economy, and society, which are essential elements that shape human society, from the perspective of energy.
Through these attempts, we can identify what factors influence our decision-making and think about how to deal with them.

By examining the three fields of quantity, knowledge, and mind, we learn about the close relationship between energy and humanity, acquire basic scientific knowledge that is worth knowing, and then consider the destination our society must reach on its journey. We also present to readers a perspective and awareness necessary for living in a chaotic world.
Energy is absolutely necessary to create anything.
What kind of energy will we use in the future?

In conclusion, the author is at pains to state that his motivation for writing this book was not to defend nuclear power or praise renewable energy.
By looking back on human history, he reveals that he wanted to combat the vague identity of energy, which is known yet unknown, and get a little closer to its essence, thereby finding hope for the future of humanity.
