The basics of diabetes
Description
Book Introduction
20 million people are at risk for diabetes. Anyone can develop it.
Information provided by the endocrinology medical staff and nutrition experts of the Korean Diabetes Association
Everything About Diabetes Management
Diabetes is a chronic disease that places a great burden on patients and their caregivers, along with cancer and cardiovascular disease, which are the first and second leading causes of death in Korea.
The number of diabetes patients in Korea is expected to exceed 6 million as of 2023, and including those at risk of diabetes, the number will reach approximately 20 million, meaning that two out of five people are at risk of diabetes.
The problem is that as diabetes becomes more common, unverified and indiscriminate information becomes widespread, and patients become increasingly confused.
The Korean Diabetes Association launched the "Diabetes Essentials" channel in 2020 to provide more accurate and verified information to diabetes patients, and reorganized and published the approximately 160 videos produced to date as "Diabetes Essentials."
This book contains only the most essential information for patients and their caregivers, helping not only diabetic patients but also those with pre-diabetes manage their blood sugar levels and live healthy lives without complications.

Publisher's Review
The Korean Diabetes Association informs
The most trusted diabetes treatment guide
The number of diabetes patients in our country is rapidly increasing.
In the past, diabetes was mistakenly thought to be a disease that only fat and old people suffered from, to the point that it was called a "disease caused by overeating." However, due to changes in lifestyle, it has become common for people in their 20s and 30s to be diagnosed with diabetes.
Even if you are diagnosed with diabetes, if you manage it properly and receive timely treatment, your symptoms will not worsen immediately.
The problem is that many people do not know that they have diabetes, or even if they are diagnosed with diabetes, they do not know what to do immediately.
As the number of diabetes patients rapidly increases, the proliferation of unverified information has also become a major problem.
The Korean Diabetes Association, the largest single-disease academic society in Korea, was aware of this problem and has been operating the 'Essentials of Diabetes' channel since 2020.
The Korean Diabetes Association has approximately 4,000 members, including medical professionals, nutritionists, and social welfare experts, who are actively conducting research on diabetes.
And based on my research and clinical experience, I have published “The Essentials of Diabetes” by selecting only the information most necessary for patients.
This book is packed with information that any diabetic would be curious about, including essential diet for diabetes management, diabetes treatment methods that were difficult to obtain accurate information on, the latest diabetes management devices, and exercises that can be done at home.
In particular, we focused on filtering out unnecessary information and providing only factual information by having all content reviewed by 10 of the country's best endocrinologists.
This one book alone will provide you with all the information you need to manage your diabetes.
Diet, exercise, medication, etc.
We've carefully selected only the most interesting information!
『The Essentials of Diabetes』 consists of five chapters.
Chapter 1 contains basic knowledge about diabetes, including the criteria for diagnosing diabetes and the causes of diabetes.
Chapter 2 introduces complications, the most frightening aspect of diabetes, and tells you what to watch out for to avoid complications when you have diabetes.
Chapter 3 systematically explains diabetes treatment methods, introducing existing treatments such as oral medications, insulin injections, continuous glucose monitoring, and insulin pumps, along with the latest information, to help patients choose the treatment method that is right for them.
Chapter 4 is about the most important diet for diabetes, and contains a lot of information related to eating habits such as basic eating principles, snack intake, drinking, and carbohydrate measurement. In addition, it mentions things that patients may be curious about, such as eating out and convenience store food, which are indispensable in modern society.
Finally, Chapter 5 systematically explains exercise methods for blood sugar management.
Most of the diabetes management books published so far have focused solely on diet or how to take diabetes medication.
However, this book also contains a variety of other information, so you can get sufficient help in managing diabetes without having to look for other books or videos.
In addition, each subheading includes a QR code for a video from the 'Diabetes Essentials' channel, helping readers who find it difficult to understand just by reading the book easily access more detailed information.
If you have diabetes or are concerned about it, "The Essentials of Diabetes" will be the most reliable answer to your blood sugar management.
